Woody Kincaid the most underestimated runner in the US. Coach Connor
from U of P needs to be given the kudos from bringing him along. In fact coach Connor maybe the most underestimated coach in the US!

connor is a good coach, but if a kid who runs 1327 (which is still a great time for a college kid) is running 1312i within 7 months of running under a new training program, there was clearly untapped talent there.
Another loss for True.

The pacer needs to get a group through 4K on pace (like Jager did) for a 5k and probably to 8k for a 10k. Otherwise, IMO it's really not worth it to have a pacer that only goes to 2k during a 5k. If anyone has serious WR aspirations, running the 1st half of the race at WR pace shouldn't be too difficult that it requires a pacer, but the last half is where it gets really tough and you do need a pacer, but when the pacer is most needed, they are off the track already.
Tell that to Bekele
You agree though that IF Bekele had someone take him through 3600-4000 he would've ran faster. The problem is anyone who can run WR pace for that long is probably good enough to get prize money or even win the race so having them rabbit would be pointless.

Ahmed's progression is certainly more "normal" than Farah's

More like "SlowMo"
Little off-topic, but in all seriousness, has anyone noticed that Farah's signature kick has looked a lot more slow-mo (pun intended)? Might just be my perception but other than Rio, his kick has looked quite slow and his arms never seem to be going quite as much as I'm used to.
deer poster - very quantitative analysis, thanks for you're input.

Am I the only one wondering when True will move up to the 10 or even the marathon?

Well, he hates the 10 on the track and it shows. However, he is great on the roads from 5k-12k. I don't see him as a great marathoner (hope he proves me wrong), but definitely should be able to challenge the half-marathon AR.

Did he lead the last 2km?
Bekele did something similar closing in 4:56 in the Olympic final in Beijing while leading a considerable portion of the race outdoors.
Put Mohahmed in a good paced Diamond League in Brussels or Zurich and witness a probable 12:52 or so. He ran very impressively both at the Olympics and at Eugene Diamond League last year.
Bekele lead the from 8km onwards...(as well as leading some laps in the first 3km)

Yo, you think it's mo' likely that Moh is mo' clean than slow-mo?

Just a other North African doper. Got busted with epo.
Pacing a fast race is harder than it looks, that's why DL paces are well paid. Any athlete who can pace much beyond halfway, is usually in the race. El' G use to have a personal pacer who had a 3:33 1500 PR.

It would take a coach on a whole different level to do that with a kid who had no untapped potential.

I think it's probably evidence in favor of the college coach, who developed his athlete in a sustainable manner.
College isn't always ideal for training even if the athlete is completely focused... academics can really take a LOT out of you. I think we forget that sometimes...

Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
