Kipsang looks almost ready to go by the pacers.
Kipsang looks almost ready to go by the pacers.
Brutal pace taking its toll. At 28k, Kipsang and Chumba are still up front and look pretty good, but Kipketer has been dropped and Solomon Deksisa is really hurting and looks like he's about to be dropped too.
It's a tough decision for some of these guys: go with the leaders early even though it may be too fast or hang back and risk running a big chunk of the race in no man's land.
Can anyone update me on how Saina Betsy is holding up /what place she is in and if she looks strong still?

Chumba still there, not sure who #6 is that got dropped, looks like Chebet
Or maybe Deksisa? He is a 2:06 marathoner (2016 Rotterdam) on his second marathon and his debut was a 2:17. This is a new territory for him.
Chumba & Kipsang together almost 30K in, Deksisa about 5 seconds back & then no one. TONS of Japanese runners slated to break 2:10 at this point
Shitara on sub 2:05 pace in first marathon.
The record is lost 2:03:15 pace at 29k
Might have fed my math last post 2:02:59 at 30k
At 30K under WR pace by 11 seconds, Kipsang putting a little distant b/w him & Chumba, last pacer drops
Nope - 11 sec under at 30 K
Pacer is gone.
Would be awesome to see a Japanese NR 2:06 is the record from 2002
They are on the exact pace Kipsang predicted, to the second! 10K to go
Surprised Chumba still with Kipsang and at WR pace! This is incredible! However he normally "dies" at the end and looks like would be easily blown away by a slight wind!
He said Daniel Kimetto again.
Is it safe to say Bumby dropped out? I just started watching but it doesn't look like he was top 50 at halfway..
