College. D3. 800m. Saturday.
In the final 30 seconds before I start my race, me and another guy are walking up to the start line of our alley. I'm inside, the other guy outside of me, totally normal so far. I've raced him and his team A LOT. I'd say I've gone head to head against him 5 or 6 times, been at the same meet another 5 or 6 times but we don't speak.
3 of his teammates standing by the side of the track. 1 says "yeaaaah (my name)" and another says "lets go (my name)" but like jokingly or sarcastically. I know his name and it's not mine, so I look left. No other guys on their team in this race. I look back at them, immediately make eye contact with one.
Didn't have time/care enough to process it then. Now I can't figure it out. Were they really jeering at me specifically at such an unimportant race? I went to hs with a pole vaulter on their team so that's the only way they could pick me out of a crowd. But they ignored their teammate and spoke to me. Wtf? Do I need to practice street fighting before I see them again?
