If it's in the florida rules not to celebrate or taunt, then he is rightfully DQ'd.

Not much to discus. How about run fast and not be an a**hole.

What did he do? I'm not seeing any video or description anywhere.
20.44 into a -0.3 in Feb is ridiculous.

There's a dyestat article. It says that he raised his hands and made a 'W' with his fingers. Honestly, I think that calling that "unsportsmanlike conduct" is complete bull. He ran and he celebrated. Who wouldn't celebrate something like that? But I do get that it's in the rules not to. Just think that it's stupid to enforce a rule like that. If someone got their feelings hurt because he celebrated then that's because they're over-reacting douchebags.

Personally I'm going to reserve my judgement until I see video or hear from a direct source. It seems obvious that he must've done more than raise his hands and make a W with his fingers or hands.
something I missed is that he did the 200/400 double and ran 45mid. not sure if it was before or after the 200.
Maybe he held up a finger but accidentally used the wrong one.
Good point, my judgement remains the same assuming that this is actually what happened. If it was something more however, my opinion on the matter could and would change quickly.
What's the fastest ever HS 400/200 double? Can't be much faster than that.
It was actually a 100/200/400 triple. So that puts it into even higher perspective. His 100 was 10.81

Fake News
Eased up and held up his hands. Probably 20.2x if he runs through.
This can't be a 20.44. He would have put daylight between himself and second place(21.22) if he'd run that fast. He probably ran closer to 20.9x to 21flat and might have run 20.8x had he not eased up. Still a good result for February. Sub 45 is looming.

yeah no way this was a 20.44.
Since there isn't an official time for him, maybe it was a 20.99 and someone just saw them as 4s. More likely, is that they took advantage of his unpublished time and boasted a 20.44 as a lie.

True that, no way he was more than .1 or .2 ahead of second. Also convenient his coach's video cut off immediately after the finish and doesn't show what was supposedly the actual reason for the DQ, despite his coach's claim that he was DQed for "easing up."
Kid is very talented and well coached, clearly, these times don't happen by accident. But he seems to be lacking somebody in his life with some class to help guide him to being a better person, not just a faster one.
Hope him the best on the track and in life. But shame on the adults in his life, this DQ is on them as much as him.
That was my first thought too, I was waiting for him to pull away, there's no way he was nearly 0.8s ahead.
It says in this article that "the time that came up on the scoreboard puts him 8th all time".
Any knowledgeable LR posters know where we can find this all time high school list?
That sure wasn't a 20.44.
Also the kid looked ready to start some crazy celebrations just after crossing that line.
. It seems obvious that he must've done more than raise his hands and make a W with his fingers or hands.
Why does it seem "obvious"? Because an official disqualified him?
Some track meet officials are just plain old frustrated authoritarians. When i was 10 I once got disqualified at a meet for not having my shirt tucked in.
