There are two sets of records: all female races & mixed races.
The course was "pre-verified" for accuracy so the only part needed for ratification is the results of drug testing.
Nothing to see here.

London will be great but I don't see anyone beating Mary. I think Dibaba has a way to go before she beats the other top athletes. I am very interested in Vivian Cheruiyot and I truly hope she has more running in those legs for the next 4 years. I'd love to see her in Tokyo 2020.
In my opinion, Jemima can't beat Mary in the marathon all things being equal. We'll see.
Vivian's plans are actually geared towards chasing marathon gold in 2020! That is a little over 3 yrs from now and by then Dibaba will have caught up. So it will be a great battle between the two unless a new freak emerges between now and then.
I hope Mary goes for broke in London. In 2011 NEw York marathon she covered first half in 67 but blew up to finish third. If she goes out at 68 this time, she can easily clock a 68 for the second half or better considering London's course is somewhat flat. So we could see a 2:16 after all. That said, I wonder why Mary has never raced Berlin marathon. She probably could come close to Paula's 2:15 world record.

is this a joke ?
the gal made her M debut nearly 3y ago & never went back
if she believed she had any chance of M gold she wouda run it in rio but chickened out
the way she just got slaughtered here over the 1/2M indicates no serious M prospects now or in future & she's been a M'er for nearly 3y !!!

Running one marathon in 3 yrs doesn't make one a marathoner(not for three years, to use your words). Its the same place where Mo Farah currently finds himself. Haile tried the marathon too in 2002 but went back to the track and didn't return to the 'thon at least for another 4 years. Kenenisa also seemed to be just another spent force up until Berlin last year. That goes to tell you not to write off a runner based on a single marathon or even five marathons especially when it comes to an athlete of Tirunesh's standing. But again you could be right and you could be wrong. Your comment will make more sense if we were already at end of 2018.
no
she ran the M 2y before rio which indicated the perfect time to move to it with big gold in mind
she ran one & quit the distance
she is not a serious threat in the M
the haile example is a joke
he wanted to run M in athens but conditions were too brutal for him & he went for 10k instead
he was a full time M'er as soon as athens was over & didn't even run a track 10k in '05
tirunesh will never be a threat to the top kenyans in the M & this hammering over 1/2M showed it
I love Vivian. About that 5K in Rio, she told a Kenyan journalist that when she finally caught up to Ayana with 700m to go, she decided to overtake her at lightning fast speed, instead of just sitting on her shoulder and kicking at the end as most would expect, because she wanted to completely demoralise Ayana and kill any fight she had left. That, I believe, is what earned Hellen Obiri the silver medal.
Vivian also said that she thinks she'd have won the 10k gold as well if Alice Aprot hadn't panicked in her first big race and run "too fast, too early". Anyway, her 5K win is a masterclass in tactics.
but that means trying to outkick ayana in a hoped-for 29'45 race
ayana followed the newbie & coud live with the torrid pace
she deserved the win & it wouda been a travesty if she lost in a sit'n'kick 29'45
i told everyone vivian's kenyan trials win was indicative of
~ 29'30
sea-level shape & that was in a tactical race !!!
vivian possibly had the ability to follow ayana but she lacked the balls & she lost any chance of 10k gold

What's "pre-verified" mean? Did someone go out that morning and make sure all cones and turn-arounds and barriers were in the correct location?

I am not sure. Nice run! A 2:15 women's marathon world record is looming.
2:17 maybe.
But 2:15 is another level altogether.
Exactly

you do realise she had a huge wind blowing her to that time in most of last 1/2 ???
without it she wouda run more like
~ 2"16-mid/high

I agree with this 100 percent. Vivian smashed here in her 1/2 marathon debut a couple of months ago, and dibaba won the the great south run earlier in the year. I just don't think Dibaba has the ability to increase the pace mile after mile after mile. She has flat speed, which works on the track, but doesn't do much on the road. Plus she likes to sit steady in races, so I don't think she has the ability to run uncomfortably.
And again, I'm a huge dibaba fan, but she is no match for the kenyans...top 5 at best. Yesterday's race showed us a lot, and she was toast after the 9th mile.

Calculo, you are the joke! After his debut in 2002 Haile did not run another marathon until 2005 because he found the marathon was not as easy as he had thought after he was destroyed by Khannouch and Paul Tergat. But he found his spot on the track was already occupied by a new Emperor namely Kenny Bekelecho. So your stories of brutal conditions in Athens is just your version of alternative facts! Or perhaps you got the year and location wrong. Was it the Olympics of 2008 in Beijing? Where it was said the air was too polluted and ended up switching to 10K instead of battling the marathon? Well, those in the know believe Haile's main problem wasn't pollution but the fear of losing to Samuel Wanjiru.
And what is your explanation for Kenny B since you seem to have answers to sway everyone to believe Tirunesh's fate is sealed? I remember reading from you that Kenny is done.
