Choge's a truly gifted athlete and would love to see him get back to his winning days. It is going to be tough though mixing it up on the track unless in the 10000m.

Scorpion runner, you want a WR but you also want there to be several women still in it with 100m to go? WRs are almost never a battle to the line.
Also, there certainly was talk of a WR before the race began. You just weren't paying attention to the right sources.

The men's race is way better and more exciting at this point.
YOu are an idiot.
Rojo, that's no way to treat the customers.
You're right though.
The Patriots Victory Parade was a celebration of Me and Donny winning all the time. LOL.
I win 100% of the time.
I never lose.
I am a winner.
Ladies' pace was agreed on yesterday - 3:07 / 3:08 per km. Entire pro-field was present after technical meeting and everyone agreed. 66 flat and then we see what happens.
There was so much nervousness in opening 5km of the women's race. Two very fast opening kms and me shouting from the lead car for pace reset and for some peace. After 3:17 for 3rd km we found the rhythm and group settled down a bit, but still not enough.
There were several windy long stretches in first 11km and from around 8km it was clear that Peres was the most aggressive and most confident of all.
Peres was seaking hip of a pacemaker from around 7-8km and would not settle to run behind. She actually pushed several times between pacemakers and, overall, things became more solid once second pacemaker slided backwards to assist second group which was formed.
First shout of WR threat was made at 18km. It looked for a moment that 64:XX will be printed, but it was not to be.
Our management had Joyciline Jeokosgei in the race, 2 pacemakers in ladies' race and male pacemaker who took men out in 27:52.
Dibaba seems to have suffered from a major blister and was treated after the race. Blood visible through the front part of one her shoes.
In informal talks after the race, Peres, Mary, Joyciline and Jemima have expressed their happiness with the pacemakers.
WRs are hard to come by in pure racing environment and today we got WR and several big PBs in ladies race.
Not pretty, but truly beautiful.
D., thanks for the post.

Coaching the pace setters or any athlete from a moving vehicle is against the rules!

Not trying the a debbie downer her, but that was a death pace. From the start of the race you could see the struggle in the faces of the elite runners due to the pace
I like to see records set, but not like that. ...
I wanted more of a battle...it was kind of disappointing
Dude, she ran 31:05/30:3x for her 10k splits, so the pace wasn't suicidal, and she set a WR. I almost never agree with Rojo but you aren't making any sense. More women needed to be in WR form for it to be a battle amongst the women, instead it was a battle against the clock. What good would slowing the pace down have done?
Peres couda run
~ 64'30 / 64'45
at even pace considering she was speeding up from slow 3k split & probably the 64'30 figure if accounting for the wind
her current track 10k shape has to be probably in the
29'00 / 29'15
area
in this shape she probably she couda beaten ayana in rio 10k !!!
as impressive as the run was, i'm not sure it's superior to Priscah's GNR run few years ago where she ran a mid-race
30'03 !!!

Muchas Gracias Hombre.
Peres nearly ran herself unconscious. Not like Genzebe very much.

What a freaking race. World half champion Peres Jepchirchir has broken the WR and then collapsed at the finish line. WHAT AN EFFORT.
https://twitter.com/letsrundotcom/status/829902467332763648Can the men break 59??
Why cannot we get an American woman to put her heart and soul to racing like this, run until you literally drop from the effort at the finish line.
We know the men will never do , to re occupied with training and getting shoe deals.
BTW, was this race off limits to americans or are they just afraid to travel and mix it up? Seems to be the case more and more.
Americans just want to race local or be comfortable with being the top american.
I keep telling my GF, she broke the WR!
GF says, where was the race? I say, I don't know, it says RAK.
I'll find out. I search the LR reports, threads, twitter reports, IAAF.......
NOTHING. Everything says, "RAF half marathon" but no location.
Does anyone know where it was?

From my high school geography, RAK stands for Ras al-Khaimah, one of the seven(?) emirates that form the United Arab Emirates. You've probably heard of the two most famous, Abu Dhabi and Dubai.

What are you talking about?
The pacers slowed down so that the women could keep up. When they first went out, after about 4 miles ,you could see the struggle on the faces of the runners, so the pacers decreased the pace. After that, the field stayed steady for awhile.
I'm not sure at what mile, but the pace was increased again, and that is when sumgong and dibaba got dropped, so the second pacer dropped back to help them out because they were struggling.
Do you realize that possibly the best female marathoner in the world got dropped, and the finisher fainted after crossing the line OF A HALF MARATHON?
It wasn't pretty at all, because it was a death pace....World records are overrated in my book when bodies are being pushed to ridiculous limits, and the top 4 runners get shredded.
we agree to disagree.
Is there a rule against attaching a helium balloon to yourself while running a road race?
Am I living in the twilight zone? The Boston Marathon weather was terrible!
How rare is it to run a sub 5 minute mile AND bench press 225?
Move over Mark Coogan, Rojo and John Kellogg share their 3 favorite mile workouts
Mark Coogan says that if you could only do 3 workouts as a 1500m runner you should do these
Red Bull (who sponsors Mondo) calls Mondo the pole vaulting Usain Bolt. Is that a fair comparison?
