This is true and now it's happening to me.
I remember when I lived in DC and seeing Matt Centrowitz Sr running around the Georgetown track for the first time.
I couldn't believe he was a former American record holder. He was puddling around the track and his stride looked very short.
Fast forward 15 years and now I feel like that myself some of the time. Is there any research that strides shorten as you get older? More importantly what can be done to combat this?
When I play soccer or do something naturally active I feel like my stride is fine but other times when I just run I feel like my stride is constricted and too short.
I bet this could be related to how I sleep (I'd love to see a whole different thread on how we sleep affects us injury wise) and think it's more common in the AM.
Maybe it's just I don't run that much anymore. When I was really training I didn't care if it took me 3 miles to warm up or stretch out. Now that 3 miles is a much higher percentage of my run so I don't have much time where I'm really running and feel fluid.
