I only know the 16 splits of my 32 which were: 5:58 first mile 5:53 second.
And I don't know my 5K splits but I'm sure my coach has them so I'll ask him
Were you exhausted at the end of that 3200? You negative split it. So I assume you ran the last few laps faster. You may just need to go out a little faster. You should be able to run around 11:30 - which is 5:45 pace - or about 86 per lap. You were running 89's - just a little faster than your 5k.
Of course, it's also possible your 5k was on a favorable course. Was in Track or XC? Was it windy? Are your other times close or is it an outlier and you really run 19:45 most of the time?
It was in XC and it was @ the state meet and it wasn't windy. And I didn't improve much this year (freshman) from my 8th grade year. My 8th grade year I PRed in the 5K at 19:25 but I didn't run track then. And then all my races this year were all pretty close to my 18:59 (one race I felt was a better effort but it was a pretty difficult course though) And my 3200 and 1600 are indoor times by the way. And I did feel exhausted During and after the 32, but I don't remember feeling exhausted after a 5K this season.
