Ceres, FIFE fir life, SCOTLAND
Altitude 23 to 53m
When to go: NEVER! Other than accidentally lost on the way to play golf at St Andrews
Ideal for: Cultivating a unique hybrid strain of human/lemon. ðŸ‹ðŸ¥‡ðŸ‘Ÿ
Pros: Fife but not too Fife. Far enough from Dunfermline, kelty, St. Andrews to ensure incorruptibility. Nae Eccies.
Cons: Fife. Altitude not high enough to give any advantage over the questionable Ronhill Cambuslang Project. Nae Eccies.

Interestingly (to me anyway, as it was during my formative years) in the late '80s and early '90s Tom McKean, Liz McColgan and Yvonne Murray were all at the top of their game and winning regularly. It seems to have taken 25 years for another decent crop of Scottish mid and long distance runners to emerge.
Yep, some people seem to be forgetting what a strong distance running tradition Scotland has. Before Tom, Liz & Yvonne there was the likes of Ian Stewart, Nat Muir (no relation) and Lachie Stewart.
And if Butchart's 13:08 makes him suspicious, what about all the American white guys who've run faster? There's 10 of them, 5 of them sub-13. Do we suspect them all too? Then I laughed hard when Chris O'Hare was mentioned. What about a PB of 3:34.8 and making just one global final (finishing 12th) would make him suspicious?
Could not agree more with (Go Laura) People are people why all the finger pointing when someone other than some random African runs well? Does not matter what nation someone comes from they all have ability. Laura shows all the best Scottish traits of tenacity desire and bravery. She also has a huge natural talent.
She makes watching Athletics a joy. No sandbagging, no excuses. Just determination of performing with all she has.

And before that, Nat Muir, John Robson and Graham Williamson, as I recall.
If you haven't seen this, enjoy.

Obiri actually does look DEVASTATED in that one
Indoor 3000 performances never carry over to outdoors.
Watch the tape again and tell us you really believe what you say.

this run shoud been no surprise to those who follow the boards
she was predicted to be able to go 8'24 if she got perfect run ( she was quite a way from getting that )

However, LRC does not need to use your drivel calculator.
We can use another "nonsense" calculator instead:
TrackBot! VDOT 3:55 1500m
How are you doing tonight Trackbot?
I am going to guess that you will say 8:24 for 3000m as an equivalent time to 3:55 for 1500m.
Go Trackboto calculo!!!
VDOT for 3:55 1.5km: 71.7
Equivalent race times based on VDOT:
Marathon: 02:20:10
Half marathon: 01:06:55
15K: 00:46:33
10K: 00:30:21
5K: 00:14:36
3Mi: 00:14:04
2Mi: 00:09:04
3200m: 00:09:01
3K: 00:08:24
1Mi: 00:04:14
1600m: 00:04:13
1500m: 00:03:55
I am a bot. Info: habs.sdf.org/trackbot

What would watching the tape tell me about outdoors, idiot?
Watch these tapes:
2015 Mo Farah 7:33.1i 7:34 13:11
2014 Gebrhiwet 7:34.13i 13:06
Dibaba 8:16i 8:24i 8:26 14:28
2013 Rupp 7:30i 13:01
Ndiku 7:31i 7:33 13:03
Dibaba 8:26i 14:37
Despite many more tries outdoors, runners rarely uphold their indoor "fitness." This is because it's bogus fitness. The 90's are over, tech has improved, indoor tracks aren't slower anymore.
Only 8 of the women's all-time top 20 at 3000m were set in the year 2000 or later. But at 3000i, all of them were. On the men's side, 6 of the top 20 at 3000, and 13 at 3000i.
It's becoming an annual ritual to moon over amazing runs at low-key offseason meets and how much faster they'll be during the season. It never happens.
Maybe you should start training? Those values are typical in couch potatoes.
Running will increase plasma volume more than HB mass. That is a well-known phenomenon. And that's why sedentary people normally have substantially higher HB concentrations and slightly higher hematocrits than trained individuals.
Great race.

You might want to triple the dose.
Calling me an idiot is a redundancy on these boards.
If you watch the tape you see that she absolutely destroyed Obiri in the last 200, and I take that as a sign she had more in the tank.
G Dibaba ran two very fast 5ks in 2015 outdoors after her indoor world record in February, one of the 2015 races faster than her indoor record.
I don't think she's a G Dibaba. More like Sonia O' Sullivan. She ran well in the summer of 1995 after a great indoor season. Actually better than her.
I agree about the quality of indoor tracks improving, but I would focus on the fact that the two good times she ran this year were better than anyone from GBR has ever run, indoors or outdoors.
I agree that it is often the case that runners lose their edge if they run a heavy schedule indoors earlier in the year. We'll see what happens with Laura Muir (I think she won't lose her edge this year).
more evidence.
Are we going to have all this PED nonsense no these boards for every one of her races this year.
Its the F******g Haggis idiots !!
she's totally doped up. shades of ramzi all over again. obiri makes that move the last half lap or so, muir is already flailing wildly yet she somehow ACCELERATES??? gimme a break, total dopehead, all of Scotland this year - new pharmaceutical company helping them out. we'll see this come out very very soon

a) Was she really "flailing wildly"? Yes, she was making a huge effort but "flailing wildly"? No.
b) The screen clock was 0.1s behind (i.e., 8:26.3 when Muir crossed the line.)
So, watching the video ... 7:56.5 at 2800, 8:11.4 at 2900, 8:26.3 at 3000.
This means a penultimate 100 of 14.9 and a last 100 of 14.9.
Therefore, Muir made NO ACCELERATION when Obiri got on her shoulder with 100 to go. Obiri simply topped out with her effort and gave up when she realised she wasn't going to get past her, giving the IMPRESSION that Muir accelerated. That was plain to see before even checking those 100m splits.
RIP: D3 All-American Frank Csorba - who ran 13:56 in March - dead
RENATO can you talk about the preparation of Emile Cairess 2:06
Running for Bowerman Track Club used to be cool now its embarrassing
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
Hats off to my dad. He just ran a 1:42 Half Marathon and turns 75 in 2 months!
