I'm glad to hear that you survived and will be okay. So Cal does have large pockets of conservatives (Orange County, for instance), but this isn't about conservative politics; the big story about a car culture in which people can hit pedestrians with impunity does have something to do with politics. If this guy were the worst of them, he would've been yelling at you. Yesterday on my run home from work, it was still plenty light out, I was wearing a very bright shirt, and a woman driving up to take a right should've been able to see me very easily. I was sore from hard runs the day before and going slowly. Still, she cruises right through the stop sign and is about to push through my dead body to get through when I yelled and waved my arms at her and finally she stopped. Does anyone actually think to themselves about how that obstacle in front of them, possibly delaying them by a few seconds, is a human being with a family who will be left to fend for themselves after the pedestrian is killed?
