condom with a huge load
Ran though a park the day after an Easter egg hunt and managed to find lots of plastic eggs the kids had missed with candy and coins in them. Pretty neat at the time.

Why did you bring this back with you?
Found somebody's stash sitting out in a pretty cool metal container.
Also, a really nice hunting knife (on a different run).
An american flag - had to run home 7.476 miles with it.
In my 30 years of running, I never found anything. No money on the ground, no wallets, no smartphones, no easter eggs, just dogshit and roadkill.
Carried a brick four miles from the old field house at Notre Dame, gave it to an Uncle who went there. Carried a box turtle three miles. He (she?) was crossing a pretty busy road and it didn't look good. Kids watched it for a day or so then we turned it loose next to a creek.
A baby snapping turtle.
It looked like it was weak and in trouble and it was also heading off a path into the road.
I carried in my hand till I found a McDonald's french fry holder, then I carried it in that. Kept it for about a week or two, fed it worms, then released it, in a good spot.
The little baby turtle was surprisingly strong.
I found a dude's wallet on the strip of Vegas on New Year's day. I carried it for the last 13 miles of my run. I was able to track him down and return it to him later that morning.
I've never carried a single thing back that was found on a run. I guess that makes me weird based on the number of responses.
woman
she was out running too and after I started talking to her we ran back to my house 2 miles (no did not carry her and she did not come in) then she continued on her way.
lots of ibuprofen, aspirin, caffeine pills, unopened gel packets, unopened energy bars.
Dropped or tossed by runners in an ultra that started earlier than I on the course I was running. 3-6 miles carried
Inflatable vinyl life sized naked woman.
easy to carry home as it had a hole in it and would not hold air. 1.5 miles. Took home to put in trash.
lots of unlit fireworks on the streets found early morning July 5. 1-4 miles.
six multitools.
No the woman and vinyl woman were not these. 2-8 miles carried
Lots of exposed but undeveloped film canisters(back in the day) at scenic pullots.
This is usually not worth the effort to develop
Why do so many of you carry turtles home? Move it out of the road I could see, but carry it home?
Early 80's in college. Group of teammates found a dildo on a country road. Passed it like a baton for the 3 miles back to the fieldhouse. Never dropped it. Dennis Mitchell would be jealous. Trust your immune system people.
My teammates found one of those European soccer scarf in some trails and ended up putting it to go good use. Our Wednesday runs during XC were 10-12 miles at "significant effort," which we wrongly interpreted as race pace, and it always turned into a war/bloodbath. Anyway, the "winner" of those Wednesday runs got to keep the scarf for a week, like a championship belt. We took those days every bit as seriously as the actual races.
Aside from that, found the usual piles of porn, and once, a fleshlight owners manual (no fleshlight though).
Once found a full PlayStation 1 console, too.
Ray Ban aviators - 4 miles home.

Sack full of assorted porn DVD cases. Everything from girl on girl, guy on guy, shemale, hetero, you name it. Roughly 15 DVD cases with preview boxes on back.
This was on a 10 mile run where I had about 4 miles left to go.
Put one in every teammates locker.
MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Still warm and gooey or dry and crusty?
I found $100 on a trail running through a major city. emailed the local park in charge of the trail and posted a craigslist ad to try and find the owner, but had no response (no one wanted to guess approx. how much was lost and where they were within reason - no one!), so I spent it on something dumb that I can't remember...
