24/25/26 (all flat) seems like a well-paced race!
If he opened in 24.9, 25.0 he had lots in the tank and can go faster.

aerobic ability. it's not that complicated to figure outi ran 48 and 1:50 but barely got below 4:00 in the 1500you need crazy lungs/heart to run those crazy fast times

I don't get how he hasn't broken through in the 800 yet when he's running so many fast 600s. He should be able to run 1:43 with that kind of speed, but it seems that he lacks strength for that last 200. I think he ran something like 3:45 for 1500 which is decent but I think he should be running way better outdoors.
IMO it shows 1:45
Loxsom's pr is 1:44.92 from 1 1/2 years ago, so he should honestly be able to take some time down outdoors--it is overdue. On the other hand, he's pretty stout even for an 800m guy at 5'11" 175, according to wiki. Maybe he should lose some weight outdoors!

1s slowing splits is way off
a 800 shoud have 0.5s slowing furlongs
a 400 shoud have 0.75s slowing ones
logically therefore, the infrequently run 600 shoud have slowing by
~ 0.66s
-> for ideal runs of :
1'15.00 = 24.33 / 25.00 / 25.66 = 24.33 / 49.33 / 1'15.00
1'14.00 = 24.00 / 24.66 / 25.33 = 24.00/ 48.66 / 1'14.00
24-flat is not unreasonable opener if you want to run 1'14+
however, if you finish in 26, you burnt out by 400...

that was a terrible run by Isiah !!!
- he started it out like it was an indoor 800 !!!
he musta thrown away tenths, just there when last at break !!!
- he had to swerve horrendously wide into lane 2 on penultimate bend costing more tenths from extra distance & loss of straight-ahead speed
- he's running with the worst hunched shoulder carry since herschel walker tried sprinting in '80s !!!
if Isiah had run a "proper" race, hard from gun, tight in lane 1, he wouda run
~ 1'14-flat
there & then !!!
this event doesn't 1/2 dozen years to "eventually" asymptote to 1'14-flat
the Kid is in that shape right now !!!

You are way off.
That is not nearly aggressive enough in the 600.
Even in the 800, your plan would have a runner going 24.5/25.0/25.5/26.0 for a 1:41.0 800 (49.5/51.5). Rudisha and any other runner to ever run that or faster will ONLY do it with an opening 400 faster than 49.5.
And the 600 should have a GREATER difference, not less. Go look at some actual elite 600 splits like Johnny Gray's. MUCH more than 0.66 difference between 200s. More than 1.0 in fact.
And the 200/200 difference in 400 is 1.0, not 0.75. Again, refer to actual elite PRs.
no
no
slowing 0.66s looks just fine
exactly
you've learn't something
learn about splits
here is a
1'41.09WR :
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=_of87fPA6fgthe clock can be stopped at 1'40.9 as crossing line so there is a +0.1+s error at any point you wish to stop clock in race
he passes 200m in ~ 24.2
his "correct" 200 split is therefore
24.3+
see above theoretical opening 200...
then we have a

no
only if they messed up the "24.5" opener with far too quick next 200 with 1'41.0 target
the ridiculous suicidal 23.4 opener in 1'40.91after fast rounds indicated guy in
~ 1'40-flat
if a fully rested, 1-off in zurich & smoothly paced to bell in :
24.25 / 49.00 / 74.5 / 1'40.00
no
go fetch mj's 200 split in 43.18 & see how much it differs from postulated 0.75s...
i'll help you : it was 21.22
so what was splits difference ?
err...
he was a noted "wild runner" & his splits were wild !!!
he split a suicidal 47.1 !!! in his 1'12.81
that alone was pace for 1'11.6 !!! off above method
to claim johnny was an ideal splitter & some template is biggest joke i have seen here in weeks !!!
he was completely wild beast of runner with little control over tempo until, well, never !!!
no
just based on 400 split for johnny, he shouda gone ~ 1'12-low just based on ridiculous 47.1 split
is this a joke ???
21.22 / 21.96 = 43.18
what is difference ???
see for 43.18...

no offence but physics means he needs to find a conditioning coach & get down to 170 ( where he shoudn't lose any real propulsive muscle but extraneous muscle / blubber )
he needs to get hydrostatically weighed to see how much blubber he can take off
physics tells us he will get faster by cubic root of ratio of weights
assuming is 1'44.92 was "perfect" run ( i doubt it, as it's waaay below level of his 600s )
170 -> 1'44.92 * ( 170/175 )^(1/3) = 1'43.91
165 -> 1'44.92 * ( 165/175 )^(1/3) = 1'42.88
even if he is a "pure" 600 guy, even with worse conversion of an elite 600'er to 800, he really shoud be into 1'42s with decent "de-bulking" with proper physiologist input
Agreed. The question is will he run 1:43 or 1:42 high. I don't know what the others are talking about. Korir ran that 600m like he would an 800m. He dealt with traffic and smoked the field in the last 200m. He is a great talent who will likely run 1:42 high this summer.

We all know quite a few 1:45 types who have run several 600s and got no where near a 1:14 600. If you are a true 800 runner, it about equal to 1:44 indoors and 1:43 or maybe even a high 1:42 outdoors. With that said, running a 1:14 does not mean you are going to run a 1:43 800 because the 600 just happens to be sweat spot for some athletes.

He did have to waste some energy, but it's a bit outlandish to say he didn't go out hard given he ran the 2nd fastest time ever and it was nothing like an outdoors 800 for a guy with his pr. He probably didn't expect sub 1:15....let alone attempting 1:14 flat...
So let's chill on the terrible run ridiculousness. Next time he'll probably go out faster knowing how fast he's ready to run.

The crazy part is how smooth Cas looked! Then Isaiah with the crazy from showing how hard he was trying to chase him down. Insane stuff.. Glad Flotrack let the video out for us to see instead of paying for that PRO sh*t
I spoke with Isaiah an hour before the race. He told me Casimir was going for the world record. Isaiah expected sub-1:15.
Harris' job was to make Cas look even smoother and he did it well.

Cas looked very smooth and led the whole way with 24.3/24.7 (49) (announcer said 48.9)/25.9. Harris has that crazy tight hunched shoulder form, yet can run and almost took the victory. In the workout Wednesday, Harris looks a lot smoother at much lower pace--part of the look is just that he is muscular in the shoulders, but I think he can fix the race form easily. Another thing is just how easy these top mid-distance collegians look at 4:40 pace in the workout for 1k's and even with the faster 200s around 23-26.
