I'll do it on Habs' website
5:05.52
If I were you I wouldn't focus so much on the whole sub 4:50 goal, I know 16:40 5k runners who can't do that, and I'd concentrate on breaking 5. You'll probably need to work on your speed, a bit, 61 isn't a great 400, but you should be able to work your way to below 5 this season, which is a really solid time for a freshman.
I ran 60-high (HT) after a very easy run about a month ago just for fun. Easy run basically served as a warmup I guess so I feel like on race day I could go 59-low. However I do know that sub 4:50 is somewhat of a stretch especially given my XC season. Put it this way, I FEEL way faster than last year, in my gut I know on a good day I could dip under 5, it just has not come together yet. I have my sights set on sub 4:50 because I feel like 4:47-4:49 ish is a reasonable improvement on 5:17. It's also faster than I feel like I would be capable of today so it leaves some room to get faster this season. I'd honestly be somewhat disappointed if I only managed a mid to high 4:5x this season. I appreciate the response though, I know some prefer stretch goals and others prefer realistic goals. However I know I'm breaking 4:50

Honestly, don't set limits on yourself. How many meets do you have? 7-10? You really think you can't dip under 4:45 or lower? Keep training, stay humble, and never EVER stress yourself. JUST RUN. Eat a good diet, run your miles, don't blast intervals, stretch, sleep and let your body perform. One of the biggest mistakes you can make is to force your body to perform faster. There is no point in running 70 400s when you run a 5:10. I always chuckle at people going 30-33 on 200 repeats when we are suppose to be going mile pace.
We are exactly the same fitness, but your workouts are insane. Also, do at least 3 miles everyday, unless you truly know you shouldn't. You are a runner, not a bball player.
I hope you do it! I just had an issue where, my freshman year I ran 4:52 my second race, and I really wanted to break 4:40 to race in the freshman mile in nationals. So every race I'd go out in sub 2:20 pace and die a miserable, painful death in the final two laps. If I were you I'd just trust the process and hope that the results come.
I'm starting my sophomore season in a couple weeks, should be fun. Hope you have a great season!

Hey Reject, you've always seemed pretty chill. 4:50 is just the start my friend, I haven't set limits just a standard. Good advice as I usually do blast my workouts. Good luck in your season as well, we do seem to be in about the same shape, you may be a little faster. If I'm remembering correctly you were faster than I was in 8th grade too (5:09 to 5:17? What are your goals for this season?
Awesome, looks like we have a high school club here. Sucks you didn't get 4:40 but 4:52 is really darn solid. I will listen to your advice. Maybe we could all use this thread to check in on our progress. Good luck on your season as well. What are your goals?

Meant to quote you there
Probably still 4:40 lol. In my state we do a couple indoor meets, and I ran the 1600 twice and got a 4:48.
I have not even had any training since I was working on getting rid of something from my life. I successfully passed and have been training for a week consistently now. I did a track meet a week ago after 3 days of 6 mile runs to get some fitness back from that f----- up winter I had. I ran the mile in 5:16, 2 mile in 12:52(this is what not training for months and trying to run an endurance race does to you) and cruised the 8 in about 2:30.
I am in about 5:05 and 2:20 shape right now, 2 mile probably around 11:50. My goal is 4:39 and 10:15. Lofty, but I don't care what naysayers have to say, I know if I can put together some good races and stay clean and train I can run the times.
That's solid improvement. I'd say you could be gunning for sub 4:35

Interesting. Lofty indeed but go for it. Hope whatever happened is better now I guess. Lol maybe we all could set up a group chat on SC since talking through LR is a pain. We could also have Jayordon.
Us four I mean
Of course, add me. I'll email you my SC name , since it has my first name on it.
Here is my newly-made fake email:
Ight, hold on a sec.
Since my original had my name on it as well
