Hey man! Super sorry I did not see this. I really appreciate the info.
I came back to update on the first week of track.
Monday: 4x600m hill average about 2:15, blasted the last one and beat some ~4:50 guys. It is a pretty steep hill.
Tuesday: Supposed to be Recovery but turned into a workout. 40 minutes with 10 push-ups every 10 minutes on hilly terrain, 6 strides afterwards and some sit-ups. I ran a controlled 200 in 33.5, felt smooth.
Wednesday: "Recovery". 40 minutes, first 20 were hard so I said screw it and shuffled the last 20 because I heard that tomorrow was going to be a hard workout.
Thursday: This is the day I want to focus on. Going in I was REALLY tired, there were no real Recovery days this week and I decided to be a try hard in gym and play basketball (it was against a teammate and we have an ongoing competition). About 15 minutes of hard basketball.
Anyways, it was hot for February out, high-60s as it was all this week. I thought it was a decent sound workout (had some speed aspects) so I decided to try it. Here is the chronology. It is very complicated so sorry if it takes you a no to weed through.
Warm-up 15 minutes
Fast but steady 900 on trails (ran 3:15)
Float back to track, walk 100, fast 400 (ran 69)
Run out to cross country course, fast 800 (ran 3:15.)
Float back to track, walk 100, fast 400 (ran 69)
Steady tempo 500 around track (not timed)
Float back to track, walk 100, fast 400 (ran 68)
The accuracy of the 900 and 800 are disputed, I believe they were both truly longer than what was claimed. Also for the first two 400s I won my heat each time, the last one I got beat by a 400/800 guy as he ran 65. I took it out hard and led 300 meters died the last 100. Going into the workout I was not confident because I was tired. I know this workout is extremely weird and hard to gauge but what would you make of it due to energy and conditions?
Thanks again for all replies. I'm feeling faster already. I'm running an 800 TT in two weeks gunning for sub 2:15. Seem reasonable?
