Where do you get these ridiculously long singlets? Mine would usually just hang 1-2 inches below the waistband of my shorts or half-tights.

OP might be racing. It is pretty normal to wear short tights and a singlet when racing, especially on the track.
On the roads, a t-shirt and shorts would be less out of place.
That being said, I actually have worn a t-shirt and shorts at track meets. I've even done sprint events in them, which is really out of place. I prefer tights and a singlet since I find it more comfortable, but sometimes if doing multiple events at a meet, they overlap and I don't have time to worry about what I am wearing.
