Today's result makes me wonder if DJ would have won NXN had he not been sick. No way the kid gets 21st if he was healthy.
Yes. :-)

Rojo, it was mentioned on the Xc web cast that Principe may have been a little under the weather or less than 100%.
I am more inclined to believe it was the "emptying of the tank" Bowdoin CR effort needlessly the week before on a soft Regional Course in an absurdly fast effort, with no real need to do so.
To the other poster , on the pacing. The most efficient ways to run fast are even and/or negative splitting.
He could only manage a 59.6x last quarter off fractions over 3:01.xx, you think he would have closed faster if out faster than the 2:00.55 pacer? That is incorrect,.
I know their coaches. They know what their doing. As well as DJ's dad.
he is extremely attractive

But LV and Ches should. D disqualified as age cheats.
LV graduated high school at 18. Not an age cheat you dingus.
I'm 100% sure Reed Brown will go sub 4 outdoors. I agree Principie can't sustain this level of fitness through the Spring, so he needs to pick when he's going to peak and work towards that race.
Why can't he sustain this level of fitness through the Spring? What type of utter garbage comment is that? Matt Centrowitz won World Indoors and y'all said the same thing and won the FKCIN OLYMPICS!
Alan Webb ran 3:59 Indoors and then ran 3:53 Outdoors.
What are you dudes even talking about?

Because DJ is no Webb, and he's not a Hunter either. That's truth, not garbage.
Worth noting that Principe ran the leadoff 1200 leg at penn relays of the team that came second (not really) to drew's LV team. Still trying to find the split online but it probably was pretty quick considering the 1600 split was 4:10 and the 400 guy had a pr of 54 and they still ran 10:00. I'd call anything under 3:06 maintaining fitness into outdoor if you ask me following a 4:11 last indoor season.
DJ also won NBON in the 5000, a pretty elite run 3 months after indoor nats, he has definitely sustained his fitness going from season to season it appears to me.
Principe split 3:00-3:01 on penns unconventional track
Saw his 4:04 at BU. He's fast and he seems to be a great kid. Kudos to his family.
Too bad his school recruits from 3 states, cherry picks all the local talent then beats up on all the public schools in RI. Lasalle should go play other prep schools. In all sports.

Aren't they pretty much on par with Bishop Hendrickson?
LaSalle never even made it to NXN, so they not a national powerhouse. They had 3 strong milers last year, but did not have the depth that some other schools have. This year they have one good miler...
Hey dc-guy, did you not run high school or college?
I ran 4 years in HS and 4 years in NCAA DI, and I always was FASTER in May than in January. 100% and I wasn't Webb or Hunter. But I was an All-American.
You obviously didn't run or currently don't run and don't understand training.
Haha...Drink yourself a tall glass of shut up juice.
Yes. Exactly. They just finished 1-2 at the Dartmouth relays. Congrats to both. But they're bith prep schools that recruit. They shouldn't compete against local public schools.
HS
Wrong. Went to NXN in 2014. Had a great opportunity in "15", but sent two individuals and "16" just DJ, rebuilding year for team. Who knows for "17".

Hey whoever, yes I've run more than you, and I understand periodization and peaking. Read up on it.
D.C. Guy,
The odds you have run the times DJ has run
14:36
8:51
4:00
2:27
Are very slim.
If anything, he's been super impressive improving race after race season after season.
Hard to take issue with his silky smooth stride either. Clearly his coach understands periodization as well as the need for year round speed work or he wouldn't have come this far.
In response to a previous poster critizing LaSalle for recruiting, yes they have an unfair edge but it doesn't take away from the hard work kids like Salisbury, DJ and bouthillete have put in, you don't recruit 400-410 kids they have to work for it.
And if IkJE was truly an all American he would no much better then most of us, most guys on this blog (myself included) would only be within 30 seconds of DJ on a good day.
I don't think it's unfair. Parents decide not the kids, for the most part... The parents want the best and still paying taxes in their town. There are some very good public schools and some compete with LSA and Bish Hend - mainly track. Also when one says recruit, what do they mean by that ?? Like a college coach calling a kid at night and talking to them ?? Having an open house, to show case the school to prospective students maybe a form of recruiting but not against the rules. But you are 100% right, it's a case of hard work and great coaching that made LSA a strong program.. People need to get over it and stop making excuses and build their own program and train hard...simple as that...
