TL, DR: What *thoughtul* grade--assessing the whole four years, and the entire Trump Administration (not just POTUS, but everybody involved) would you give? And--more importantly--WHY?
I reject your rules here. With any NORMAL President, I could accept your rules, but Trump was not normal. He incited insurrection! How could that POSSIBLY be just a D? He lied about the election results. He lied more than 30,000 times while in office. He empowered racists. He cozied up to murderous dictators who are NOT our friends. He was impeached twice, and not only that, he's the first president to be impeached in his first term! He was a bully. He made fun of anyone who disagreed with him. He GOLFED so much to the tune of over $144 million tax payer dollars. He attacked our free press relentlessly. He talked of running for a third term if he won this one. He had no respect for the law or any norms.
Sorry dude, but he didn't do ANYTHING that was good, not a single thing. He gets an F.
I would submit to you that even if he DID do anything good (and he didn't) that the bad he did would erase it all. I mean, I'm sure Jeffrey Dahmer probably did a good thing in his life...sorry, but what Dahmer did that we all know about negates anything he might have done that could have been seen as good.
Trump greatly threatened our Democracy. He attempted a coup! Just because he wasn't successful doesn't mean we should forgive and forget or even give him just a D.
F, F-, or the Peanuts Z-. Whatever the scale is, Trump gets the absolute worst grade possible.
1) "...he's the first president to be impeached in his first term!" Really surprising to see how many people repeat this JUST PLAIN WRONG "fact." Andrew Johnson's presidency started in 1865 and he was impeached in 1868.
2) Not everything is about Trump. Kibby specified "not just POTUS, but everybody involved"--and also specified a "thoughtful" grade for the whole crew.
I too detested DJTrump but I think a D for the whole bunch, over the whole four years, is fair.
Using a uniform ranked grading system (i.e. 20% of administrations get an "F"), I don't agree that thoughtful historians can't give the Trump administration an "F". . .
I'd go a step further. Using a uniform ranked grading system (i.e. 20% of administrations get an "F"), I don't see how ANY thoughtful historian could give the Trump administration anything other than an "F".
This was by far the worst administration of the last 100 years. Probably the worst administration in history - certainly top 3. How the heck is that not worthy of an "F"? Would he have had to literally nuke NYC, SF and LA to earn an "F"?
