While the people (number of voters) have already rejected Trump, the fact is that he could win the electoral college again (the economy is pretty good right now, and that always helps a sitting president).
The best chance of getting Trump out of office is the fact that he continues to alienate his political allies. McConnell and Ryan are already mad at him, and more and more sitting Republicans have expressed their concerns about him. If Mueller gives them even the smallest reason to seriously consider impeachment, they will begin to get behind that. When Trump sees the writing on the wall, he will resign. He has ZERO chance of finishing his first term as President. If he lasts 2 more years, I will be very surprised.
We saw this last summer when Ryan, McConnell, etc. were reluctant to endorse Trump. But when it came time to vote, Republicans circled the wagons and voted for a Republican instead of someone else, such as Hillary. Do you think that if there was an election today, with the same candidates as 2016, that the result would be different? Or do you think the loss of support from independent voters in the polls would hurt Trump in an actual vote? (Honest question)
