You're not the only one. Depending on what I say, I'm labeled as either a brainless Trump supporter or a communist globalist who hates Trump. A few of the regulars in this thread are pretty good though.
Since I live in the northeastern US and fall into the 18-49 age group, I'll chime with my observations. The biggest thing is that basically every establishment requires you to wear a mask indoors. If you go to a restaurant, you have to sit outside, but if you walk inside to use the bathroom you must put a mask on.
Second, I know of very little congregation of people indoors. Maybe the bars are packed, but I don't think I know anyone who has gone to a bar since they started to open. Bars are limited in capacity and maybe here they are taking the distancing requirements seriously. I honestly don't know.
Another example: Almost everyone I know is working from home, assuming that their job allows it. I have continued to go into the office uninterrupted this entire time, but in my building we are required to wear masks any time we are outside of our office. Every meeting that can be done virtually is done virtually, and I come into limited physical contact with my coworkers each day. There are about 3000 people on site, and while ~50 have tested positive, only 1 or 2 are believed to have been infected while at work.
From what I've heard (anecdotally) in other states like Florida, masks aren't required at the grocery store. Someone did a count and it was like 35% of people wore masks. Here, that number is 100%. It's been literal months since I've seen someone in a grocery store without a mask.
I'm sure there are many other factors, but at least in my opinion it seems that strict preventative measures here are working. Maybe in another month we will see a rise in cases because more things opened up, but I don't know how extreme that rise will be.
