All indications is that the madman Trump you see is a restrained version of how he actually conducts himself in person. That is why he needs everyone to sign NDAs (non-disclosures) because his reality is much uglier.
And right after posting this I found a story regarding the Rolling Stones and Trump. It is worth a read because Ugly Trump is in full force.
In essence: The Stones hated Trump. Somehow a venue they were going to play at was sponsored by Trump Org, much to their shock. It was too late to cancel the event but the Stones got Trump to agree to not promote the event, and to not show up at the event. Trump agreed. Well, needless to say is that Trump did show up and he took over the stage before the Stones were to appear and started promoting himself. Trump refused to stop promoting which lead the this exchange recalled by the tour promoter [Cohl].
“Keith pulls out his knife and slams it on the table and says, ‘What the hell do I have you for? Do I have to go over there and fire him myself? One of us is leaving the building – either him, or us.’”
“One of two things is going to happen. You’re going to leave the building and, at 6:40, The Rolling Stones are going to speak on CBS News, or you’re not going to leave the building and I’m going to go on and do an interview to explain to the world why the pay-per-view was canceled”
Then, while literally telling Donald Trump “You’re fired!” And Trump’s “three shtarkers he’s with, in trench coats, two of them are putting on gloves and the other one is putting on brass knuckles.”
Cohl signaled his head of security, who “got 40 of the crew with tire irons and hockey sticks and screwdrivers,” effectively sending off Trump and his goons.
“And that was the night I fired Donald Trump,” Cohl concluded.
