Don’t speak unkindly of Vladimir Putin?
You mean the dumb@ss who bet big on coal? Who leads the world’s lowest-tech, poorest former major power? How did you pi$$ away all those resources anyway? It seemed like you were just playing with yourselves while your neighbor China actually did some work.

Hitler and Hirohito should also have won the Nobel Peace Prize after signing documents ending WW2.
Fool. Hitler killed himself days on April 30, 1945. The German Instrument of Surrender was signed a week later. Again, you are wrong.

Impeachment is a legal process.
But not a criminal proceeding.
https://www.law.cornell.edu/background/impeach/faq.htm"The Senate may not compel the officer to testify as a witness, nor take the officer into custody. However, the officer is entitled to testify on his or her own behalf. The rights of the officer on the stand are uncertain. By taking the stand voluntarily, it may be presumed that the officer "opened the door" to any questions and forfeited any defenses other than lack of knowledge. A more complex answer may be that Constitutional defenses do not apply on the floor of the Senate. Impeachment is not a criminal proceeding, and thus, may not be affected by the right against self-incrimination just as in civil proceedings are not."
So, he can't exactly take the fifth on any particular questions, but they can't compel him to testify in the first place.

https://time.com/5708570/turkey-permanent-cease-fire-syria/in a lifetime of dumb posts, this ranks high. I think. Maybe I'm missing something.
Did FP say that Russia and Turkey would never take over northern syria after killing many Kurds?
What promise of FP did this break? It seems to be exactly what Trump's critics feared: Russia and Turkey killing US allies and winding up controlling more ME territory.
Correct. I made no declaration about this. BUT, what Rigged is doing here is he is taking the word of a murderous dictator. Pretty easy for Turkey to say the cease fire is permanent (how many of those world wide have we ever seen that were BS?). Especially if they just want to support Trump through election...just do this now and then exterminate the Kurds after the election, regardless of who wins.
Generally speaking, I'm not blasting policy decisions anyway. I do not agree with most of Trump's policy decisions, but that's just normal party/election consequences stuff. My issue with Trump of course is that he is a criminal and a threat to our national security and our perception around the world due to his CRIMINALITY. Criminal Presidents must be removed from office and be punished.

until 1974 Nobels could be awarded posthumously.

At some point they will ask for Trump's testimony.
Does anyone know if taking the fifth is an option since impeachment is not a court of law/legal process?
I believe if he simply refuses to testify, that would be grounds for an additional obstruction article of impeachment.
And of course perjury would be impeachable.
Although highly unlikely, we cannot say for sure he wouldn't testify. Keep in mind his lawyers worked very hard to convince him not to talk to Mueller. He was sure that he could handle and wanted to... his state of delusion may be such that he might still think he's got everything under control. Remember this is a guy who is notorious for not following advice and just going with his gut because he thinks that is what has worked.
Meanwhile, some of his minions in Congress tried to protest the hearings...they were just standing there eating Cheez-Its all morning.

Yes, they would at least try to continue.
Part of impeachment and removal from office is the provision that the person removed is prohibited from holding public office again. They didn't do that for Nixon, but for Tiny it would be important.
However, I don't think there is any possible way that Tiny will resign. Resignation would be an admission of guilt. He is such a narcissist that he could never bring himself to admit that he did something wrong.
People have said this (bolded sentence) over and over again. But it is not true. Trump could easily convince himself and his worshipers that resignation is just more proof of the DEEP STATE and that the best way to carry on his courageous struggle is to get out from inside the DEEP STATE.
He will not resign but this is not the reason.
So your argument is that Trump is part of the DEEP STATE?
Wow.
Found a good comment on twitter today:
"Republicans understand how power works. Democrats, somehow, after so many years of being mashed on by McConnell, still think pointing out hypocrisy or unethical conduct is meaningful or productive. Democrats need bold, ruthless leadership for these ruthless times."
When the GOP was in full power they stripped out more power from the Dems. Now that they don't have Congress they just pretend there are no rules...

Can the Capitol Police arrest these mobs? I hope they can. And put them in jails.
https://news.yahoo.com/pentagon-official-testifies-ukraine-impeachment-143912900.htmlThey broke about 1,000 national security laws running in there with their phones out like teenagers. Someone should breathalyze Matt Gaetz (again).
As someone pointed out above, hypocrisy doesn't seem to matter anymore but it was Gowdy who insisted that Benghazi hearings be held in private and Boehner who promised they would not be held in public lest they become a circus. Gowdy told Republicans at the time that if they wanted to be on TV they should rob a bank. I guess some of them took him a bit too literally.

Looks like you've egregiously misinterpreted what Knot Really said. He basically claimed that Trump's extreme cognitive dissonance and overinflated ego would create an excuse that would prevent him from personally accepting defeat. Pretty classic move for narcissists.

Don't forget Devin Nunes basically said the same thing back in 2017 when it was Republicans in control of the House. Looks like they can't take a dose of their own medicine and it's about time Democrats started playing a little hardball.

true that Rs are way better at high impact politics. They live and breathe it.
But do we want the Dems to go that same ruthless dumbash way? No. We need a party that is reality based, normal, believes in government, believes in science and rules and honesty.
If both parties become like this moran gaetz then having a constitutional republic will be difficult to keep.
No. Better for the Dems to stay with the rules and norms.
If the Dems fail and the Rs win then we dont' really deserve a democracy.

the best answer why this has to be secret is that in the past all the facts were found in secret. In Nixon and Clinton there was a special investigation - no one knew what was going on. The Ds don't have that this time - the House has to figure out what happened on its own. Privacy does make more sense legally. But it can't go on forever - has to go public soonish.

Perhaps I did.
Knot agrees that he is an extreme narcissist.
But we disagree on the path his narcissism would take. So Knot is not saying that Tiny is part of the deep state. Knot is saying that Tiny would convince himself that he part of the deep state.
Do I have it right now?

Why not, it worked for Obama? But he got the award before he added more death and destruction. Of course the Clinton State Department deserves a lot of the credit.
Interesting that R’s disrupt the hearing, but typical short-term thinking. Dragging out the proceedings doesn’t help them now; partly because they can’t be stopped, partly because they’ll interfere with election season, where they already are in for a tough fight.
Please address these major concerns that I have with this impeachment "inquiry":
1) Why is only one party questioning the witnesses? Should it not be a bipartisan inquiry?
2) Why is no cross-examination allowed of the witnesses?
3) Why is it being held behind closed doors? Some parts of it may need to be held in private, but shouldn't the American public be privy to what is going on? Isn't sunlight the best disinfectant? Also, selective stuff can be leaked.
4) Why is Adam Schiff ruling over this inquiry? He is a proven liar time and time again. Should not someone with more credibility and truthfulness be in charge?
5) Why does Nancy Pelosi have a timeline for this inquiry? She has promised to have a vote by the end of the year. But 6 committees are engaged in looking into fact-finding. How can be trust that ALL 6 of the committees will have completed their fact-finding by that time? If we want to ensure a completeness of the fact-finding let's not put a timeline on anything. Allow EACH of the committees sufficient time to complete their tasks.
