I see your point.
You need morals to care about a moral victory.
But we're talking about Congress.

I agree with you that Biden would be a fine and potentially even a great president. If he is the nominee, I will enthusiastically vote for him. I believe Warren and Harris are smarter. I think when Bernie drops out that most of his supporters will go to Warren. I think Buttigieg is perhaps the most interesting candidate and his military service is a very big plus. He is also very smart and measured. My issue with him is that he doesn't have enough experience. I think he could be a great President down the line. Would like to see him in the House or Senate first. Any Democrat still in the race would be better than Trump...BY FAR.
Got it, only impeach if it means votes.
Impeachment (and ensuing investigations) will definitely mean votes now.

If THIS Senate does not even bring impeachment for a vote, then isn't the message that they will tolerate such behavior?
Until enough of "the base" turns against Trump that it compels the GOP to play, impeachment doesn't resolve anything. This is where Pelosi is coming from.
Moscow Mitch will certainly drag his feet, which is incentive for the house to prolong the impeachment investigation.
Yes, your post is presenting more of a positive case for Biden which is appropriate. And as the demands of the job varies with work choices of the man in office his age will not be much of a factor.

in yet another serious error, the constitution does not spell out how the senate should act in an impeachment trial.
most likely it would be completely constitutonal for mitch to just take a quick vote after 10 minutes and, not getting 2/3s of the chamber to convict, call the whole thing over and go back to doing nothing. No traditional trial, no nothing.

She may want to use this latest scandal to pick up more House seats in the election, but has no interest in having the president removed from office. She cares about political moves, not any kind of justice that the Constitution asked Congress to provide when a president goes put of bounds.
Picking up House and Senate seats in 2020 is infinitely more important and relevant than impeachment that won't even hit the Senate floor
+1
McConnell can claim the Senate has the power to impeach but not the duty. With a majority vote he can stop the impeachment proceedings. Such a vote puts each and every Senator on the hook. Some 25-30 Republicans could care less what people think of their vote on the process. But the other Republican Senators do care and will squirm. All it takes is four Republicans to side with the 45 Dems and two independents to move the impeachment to trial.
Pelosi can “negotiate” with Mitch; should take 13 months or so...
Trump: California cannot set gasoline standards to provide cleaner air. Only I can set standards.
CA: We have a waiver from the EPA.
Trump: Your waiver is cancelled.
CA: See you in court.
Tick, tick, tick ...
Trump: California has the worst air quality in the country! Fix it now!
CA: We have a waiver from the EPA to set higher air quality standards, and use gasoline standards to achieve that.
Trump: I am withholding $19 billion in highway funds because you have bad air.
CA: Ok, we'd like to enforce the waiver for our stricter standards for automobile emissions.
Trump: NO, you cannot do that!
Trump is letting this whole whistleblower masquerade carry on because, when it turns out to be a nothingburger, House Democrats will look like idiots again. They're amazingly good at it.
Libs, if you want Trump out of office, you're gonna have to do it the old fashioned way, win an election. However, America isn't making the fake indian, the senile creep or the angry socialist the next POTUS.

Trump and air pollution are a natural team with apparently similar objectives.

Biden has provided 21 years worth of tax returns, more than any other Presidential candidate. So your original point does stand up.
Now let’s see Trumps.
That is hilarious!!!!

Trump hasn’t delivered on many of his major promises but it doesn’t matter, he occasionally trolls well and that’s enough for most of you.
First he never withheld the money now he admits to withholding the money but he comes up with a new reason why. You can’t make this stuff up. 45 is as low as it gets. I don’t blame him.....I blame trailer park America for voting for him. Poor, dumb White folks fell for his lies. Sad

I've been saying for awhile that Moscow Mitch will not take up removal of the president when and if impeachment passes.
But with this new scandal I'm of the opinion that "it depends".
It depends on the weight of the evidence. It is possible that the evidence shows an even stronger case for removal than we know. We simply don't know all the evidence that the whistleblower wants to present. And we don't know how deeply the others, including Pence, are involved.

Biden is the right guy for two reasons:
1) He represents calm and peace and good government. The nation needs a quiet period, not another trumpy period run by Warren, messing with everything and everyone.
2) I truly believe that Biden would work with Congress to put restrictions on the executive branch and give power back to congress, where it belongs. He's old, he's done, he is all about history and legacy. To give that gift back to the country could make him one of the great, great presidents of this nation.
These are good points, and I agree he would be a good President with potential to be a great one. I wish he were sharper...he has never been the smartest guy in the room (he's no dummy though), but he seems to have lost a step.
NONE of the candidates have the ability, let alone the desire, to be "trumpy". Even if Warren is elected, and even if she vigorously pursues the things she says she wants to see happen, that will pale in comparison to what Trump has done, not just to the US, but to our relationships with our allies.
One thing is for sure heading into next election, the party that can stick closest together will have the most advantage. To be honest, GOP seems to be holding it together behind trump with much more vigor. Dems are finally using hate to their advantage but they will need to consolidate and go all out on trump next year. We know trump is going to do anything to win, and he has the blessing of his party and voters. Trumpanzees are very excited about him and much of the rest that voted for him will either just do it again because they think economy is great or will stay home if they have been turned off. I’m not seeing huge enthusiasm from Dems yet. They might actually throw impeachment into the mix to hype up the left while shooting for a centrist message. It’s going to get much uglier.

Again, those who can't dispute her arguments go after her looks or her age.
Greta is energizing young people all over the world. This shy little girl simply comes out and tells the truth. She exposes the lies and hypocrisy of our generation. Her generation will not be kind to us when we are older. They will let us rot and we will deserve it.
