Debatable who won the mid-terms. One could say that the Republicans won it by keeping control of the Senate. Yes, the Dems did take control of the House but that part of Congress is largely impotent now. The Senate controls who is confirmed to the Supreme Court. The Senate rules on Court nominees. The Senate rules on other nominees made by the president. The Senate can shut down any impeachment done by the House. What power does the House have?
oh please. Dems had a tidal wave of epic proportions. Strongest since watergate. But the bigger point for this discussion is that Rigged was (probably, I don't remember exactly) saying 'no, no, the Rs will win - the polls are oversampling Ds' or some such rot. And he was wrong. If he said that.
I'm sure if you're flat out lying, or just always uninformed. On average, the new President's party loses 29 House seats in the subsequent midterm elections. That's average, which sounds really high, but isn't.
Under Obama, the Democrats had the largest loss of power since Eisenhower.
The Democrats lost 63 House seats in 2010.
The Democrats lost 6 Senate seats in 2010.
Power went to Republicans.
The Democrats lost another 13 House seats in 2014.
The Democrats lost another 9 Senate seats in 2014.
Power stayed Republican.
The Republicans lost 40 House seats in 2018.
The Republicans GAINED 2 Senate seats in 2018.
Power stayed Republican, though the House gained the ability to be extremely annoying.
