1) I have answered this already. You keep trying to have me label a group of Evangelicals. I refuse. As a side note only, Evangelicals are a sub-culture at best. They are a group, not a culture.
2) Answered.
3) I disagree with you about cultural relativism. It was at one time accepted and NOT evil that women did not get to vote in this country. If someone were today to say that women should not be able to vote, that would indeed be evil. I can look back at pre-1920 and say that was not right keeping women from voting, but that was a different time, and I can not say they were evil...in accordance with the times. Acceptance of homosexuality is changing for the good, and one day, it won't even be a deal at all to be accepting of it. Mortal men from 2000+ years ago who wrote stuff in a book that actually persisted until today (meaning not all of what they wrote persisted) do not get to define morality forever. RIDICULOUS to think so...and wrong.
4) You are not getting my point there at all. Your interpretation of Jesus comes from your own mind and like people (pastors) who interpreted his meaning in a way that you accept. I could sit you in a church where the interpretation of what Jesus said and did you would not accept.
5) I was never in a fundamentalist church.
6) Forgiveness is fine, but you don't forgive what is continuing AND it is forgiveness that the evil people are not allowing. Jesus died for their sins, but apparently not those of the ones they demonize. Let me say this again for maybe the 4th time now...anyone who does not believe there should be equal rights for gay people is evil. You assign a lot of things to that comment that are not said, not intended, and not implied. I never said anything about the people in my old church being evil. They are evil IF they continue to be against equal rights for gay people. They are NOT evil if they don't feel that way. That is true for people in my old church, people I've never met, etc.
Like I said before, I am more than fine with deciding to disagree here. I don't wish to try to change your mind, so there's no point really in continuing, so I don't plan to respond to any more comments from you on this topic for now...if it comes up again in the future, I might depending on my mood, but for now, I've lost interest.
