It's interesting how the discussion here and in the news cycle has turned into full blown 2020 speculation and away from impeachment. I think it's pretty safe to say Mueller has come and gone, and the clown is here to stay until we vote him out in 2020 (although I believe Trump has more than a 50% chance of winning re-election).
If a Democrat wins in 2020, I wonder what that presidency will be like. Will Republicans threaten to impeach over past speeding tickets? Will people continue to consume media news entertainment faster than a heroin addict can mainline fentanyl into the arm?
It's not a complete given impeachment won't happen, but agreed it's increasingly unlikely as we get closer to election. Dems have decided its more strategic to vote him out than impeach which wouldn't remove him from office now either way. One would think it would be much harder for an impeached president to get reelected but I guess the clock has run on that play.
There is one interesting consideration in all this though. If he's impeached of course he can still face legal punishment and possible prison from other lawsuits but it would be less likely since impeachment would seem like a brutal enough punishment - this is part of why I think he prefers impeachment, not to mention he thinks it might increase his chances of winning. With no impeachment and no reelection he'd be left totally exposed to being the fall guy for the catastrophic GOP loss of the WH... he would get obliterated in the courts and face certain punishment. He's going to be under severe pressure to stay in the WH, which we all know means even more desperate measures to win - lying, cheating, abuse of power, you name it.
