If Mueller testifies that Barr is the one who ended the investigation, there will be huge public outcry. It will be exactly the smoking gun Pelosi was waiting for to start an effective impeachment inquiry.
Everything will be put out into the open. Investigation of Tiny's finances will be accelerated. Investigation of all Tiny's corrupt practices will be laid bare.
At that point, anything can happen.
Asking Mueller why he ended the investigation would be an odd question. His first response would be, "Huh?" and if pressed it would be, "Because we were done."
Barr didn't have the authority to set a deadline. He could have fired Mueller, but it would have had to be for valid reasons.
Some of the posters said Trump had the ability to fire Mueller, but he didn't. He would have to ask the AG and if he refused he would have to work his way down the chain of command, by firing people, until he found someone that would do it. If he had succeeded, the only logical interpretation would have been, was that he had something to hide.
