Ok, I want to expand the Runningart challenge to all the libs and and Never Trumpers.
With a Trump win in 2020: Runningart, agip, Fat hurts, Racket, Trollminator, Monkeys typing, SDSU Aztec, jesseriley and Gordon Frank all agree to ban themselves from letsrun. Do I have any takers? I will ban myself, if Trump loses. If you are so certain of a Trump loss, then you should have nothing to fear.
Do we have a deal?

This is an assumption that I cannot grant. First, it wasn't so terribly long ago that both California (I'm a native) and New York (I'm a long-time resident) were part of 49-state GOP presidential sweeps. The notion that they're "forever-Dem" is mistaken IMO.
.
But more fundamentally, this assumption overlooks what's happening in CA and NY *right now*. In the last couple (recent) elections, to my personal knowledge (and acquaintance), some GOPers have voted spottily or not at all because they figured "what's the point? The Dem will win and my vote won't count." Clinton ended up beating Trump in NYS, for example, by more than three to two.
.
But if the President were chosen by a vote of the whole country, then *every* person in *every* state would know that her/his vote would count. I believe that in a situation like that we would have seen a substantially larger GOP turnout in both New York and California. And a vote in Wyoming or the Dakotas would still count just as much as any of theirs.

The elephant in the room is: Why do we have the Electoral College to begin with? The answer, as with so much of early American history: slavery. Well, we don't have slavery anymore; what's wrong with tinkering with a system that was designed to perpetuate it?

Duly noted, and I'm sure your word is good.
Of course, there's nothing to keep one from posting under another handle, as you (and I) sometimes do now; but the RFH moniker itself would be gone. Sounds good to me.
I myself can't take either side of that "wager" because I'm an independent.

Is this like saying every election is decided by white votes if every vote counts equally? As a minority voter, should I demand over-representation, based on your logic?

That implies it's wrong to hate Trump. Just about everyone agrees Trump is an unlikeble person. If someone likes his policies they'll tolerate him, but if not, it's absolutely impossible not to hate him.
hah.
the deplorables, the mag@s, tens of millions of people, actively love everything about private heel spurs. They think, literally, that he is the best president ever, that he is an ideal person, etc. These are the same people who worship the NK guy, who supported stalin, who fell for the hitler cult. People are weak and want to obey 'big men.' Always have. Part of what makes us human. The genius of democracy is that it allows us to vote out the 'big men.' It doesn't mean the 'big men' won't get elected and won't do a lot of damage. It just lets us get rid of them.
this is all true, re slavery, and the electoral college doesn't make much sense anymore by one man/one vote...but I do think sometimes it is one of those things we need to hold the country together.
The Roman empire was half the size of the US. This country is frigging enormous. With giant regional differences. If the regions had little say in who is president and who controls the senate...maybe we would spin apart. Seriously. we see all the crazy regional variety...the South is a racist, economic basket case, parts of the west think armed insurrection is totally appropriate and admirable, coastal cities have adopted cultures very different than the rest of the nation.
Yeah the EC isn't really fair. But maybe it's a united factor that we need.
Jeffrey Epstein, child sex trafficker, has been arrested, for that crime.
Trump has shown that he's completely familiar with how Epstein found underage girls for his pals. There are pictures of old spanks and epstein palling around.
I wonder if Epstein will talk about Trump.
I also wonder if eventually Falwell will have a come to Jesus moment and confess that he is being blackmailed into supporting Trump, to hide his whatever happened with the pool boy. That thing he needed Michael Cohen to help out with.
I'm just wondering.
Not that any trumpers would stop supporting the president for anything he did, ever. But it would be news anyway.

They need to be released right now.
If Crooked Hillary was president, there is no chance in hell Jeffrey Epstein would be arrested today. Epstein was a friend of the Clintons for years and donated millions to their shady foundation.

That makes no fkn sense. A general election for POTUS should have nothing to do with states, which is the case with most developed nations. Each person’s vote should be worth and weigh the same, regardless of which state. Electoral college rules ensure that isn’t the case across most of the country. With regards to California and New York, you Republicans are actually very lucky a huge chunk of those folks don’t live elsewhere otherwise under the current system it would be almost impossible for a republican to win, even with all the cheating, fear mongering, and lying. Removing that ridiculous middle step would make every vote count the same.

Why do you say such transparently stupid things? Why?
If everyone's vote was equal then the votes of anyone would count the same, regardless of whether that person happened to live in South Dakota, North Dakota, Wyoming, Idaho, California or New York. Today, if one happens to live in Wyoming their vote is counted as 4x the vote of someone in California.
Shouldn't everyone have an equal stake in the game?

Now I understand that the EC is in the Constitution and as such it is the law of the land. Further, it is difficult to imagine it changing given the requirements for any Constitutional Amendment. So be it. Life goes on. But please spare us these lame arguments to support an antiquated structure.

Of course you will ban yourself and that stupid username when Trump loses. You won't be able to show your face here then. I'm gonna go with my heart and say, "No Deal!"

You both are wrong. The Electoral College and the electors themselves were meant to prevent the public from electing someone without the prerequisite experience, character, etc to the presidency. They were never meant to be tied to the state's popular vote. The states themselves decided that. Yes, ensuring each vote in each state is equal is important. For that reason the EC mattered early in our history when Virginia had like 25% of our population.

Hey remember when you freaked out when Bill, an EX PRESIDENT, spoke to the AG? And you were flabbergasted? Clutching your pearls?
Well now the AG takes direct orders from the actual president and you don't give a sh!t. So that tells you what you need to know about yourselves. Outlaws.

Bob Barr was approved unanimously in 1991. His morals are unquestionable. Even back then Dems like Joe Biden and Patrick Leahy were praising him lavishly.
