Assuming that you understand this most basic item (probably not a safe assumption) let me ask you - where is all that carbon going in a mature ecosystem such as the Amazon?

Ah, I see. So in a mature ecosystem such as the Amazon there are continually more and larger trees year after year, decade after decade - with no trees dying and, in decomposing, releasing their CO2 while absorbing Oxygen.
Are you sure that is the answer you want to stick with?
