Trump provoked Iran by tearing up the deal we had with them. It hurts US integrity.
And flying drones in or around Iranian airspace is also provocative.
And then the U.S. claimed the drone was some 30 miles from Iran, and out over the Gulf. But Iran has the drone debris they recovered on their land; not even from the sea.
Trump Admin is guilty of the most poorly executed war-attempt operation of all time.
Typical Trump bullshit regarding why he cancelled the strikes:
In a stunning tweet thread, the president said the U.S. was "cocked & loaded to retaliate" with plans to hit three sites, but he reversed course after asking military leaders about how many would be killed.
"... I asked, how many will die. 150 people, sir, was the answer from a General. 10 minutes before the strike I stopped it, not ... proportionate to shooting down an unmanned drone. I am in no hurry, our Military is rebuilt, new, and ready to go, by far the best in the world,"
In any written or oral recommendation for a military strike, estimated casualties are going to be disclosed. To do not do so, would be like a recommendation to buy an office building without disclosing the price. The story that the strikes had been approved, but cancelled because he asked about casualties didn't happen.
