What you are missing is the Warren and Sanders base wants a handout.
I am pretty much part of the Warren and Sanders base.
I don't want a handout. I am doing pretty well for myself and pay above average taxes.
I do have some family members that rely on government assistance and that helps me.
And I like to see strangers helped out.
From an economic macro stimulus point of view, giving money to the poor benefits more to the economy than giving tax breaks to the rich.
Poor people spend it instantly and it goes straight to landlords and businesses.
If you can reduce student debt and make college tuition free, it puts more money in the pockets of consumers which in turn helps businesses and helps employment and wages.
And a higher educated workforce would be a more productive workforce with a higher taxable income.
4 years ago I was hoping Biden would enter the race to give an alternate to Hillary.
I am not pulling for Biden this time.
I don't buy that a moderate is more electable.
Hillary was a moderate candidate. Trump was an extremist candidate.
Trump got bigots to vote like never before.
I think some Bernie supporters did not come out for Hillary. Jill Stein took enough votes to cost Hillary MI and WI.
The anti-Trump sentiment is so high that any Dem candidate will have people fired up to vote Trump out.
The Warren and Sanders base wants to lift all people.
(but they are a bit old)
