It’s all about spin and misdirection. Republicans did it with Nixon, Democrats did it with Clinton, Republicans are doing it now with Trump.
Conway, Guiliani, etc are really going all in on: “you can’t impeach a Republican president based on a Democrat investigation”, “you can’t impeach a president who is doing a good job” and “you can’t obstruct if there is no crime”. It’s like they are counting on the general population’s ignorance. Typically you obstruct an investigation so that investigation ends up in your favor resulting in no indictment.
If the House has evidence of high crimes and misdemeanors, and if the House believes the Mueller Report shows evidence of that, then they need to impeach. However, I think the House is seeking more ammo via Trump and Trump Org financial records instead of just relying on the Mueller Report.
Politically they simply don’t have the time.
As far as 2020 Dems go. Nothing matters until the debates. Buttigieg is getting a nice little bump because people know who he is now. He’s the man of the moment. Wake me after the first Dem debates this summer. Keep in mind with these polls....more people are siding with “someone other than X”. Polling at 20-30% really doesn’t matter if you can’t get any higher than that. It will quickly become a 3 or 4 person race, then a 2 person race.
So yes I’m still with Beto. He has more upside and experience politically vs Buttigieg.
