What if someone saved the lives of 1,000 children in the name of Christianity, but supported Trump. Would that be suspect?
Motivation for good works always gets to the core of whether they are a good person or not. There are lots of really bad people who will do good deeds on occasion and even regularly. So, yes, a person can save the lives of 1,000 children in the name of Christianity and still be a bad person. A person who is truly a Christian can not support a serial liar, an adulterer, a sexist, a misogynist, a racist, and a criminal of epic proportions as the President of our country.
I know people who only do "good deeds" because they are afraid they will go to hell if they don't. I'm personally glad that the fear of hell keeps them from doing bad things and even has them doing some good things, but we should do good deeds because it is the right thing to do, not because we fear going to hell.
BTK serial killer Dennis Rader was a member and regular attender of his local Lutheran Church and a Cub Scout leader. He surely did some things that were in the name of Christianity and he clearly was a bad person. This is an extreme example of course, but he rises to the level of pure evil...there are levels of badness...supporting Trump at this point puts a person on the scale.
