Good [morning]! How are all you LRC stable geniuses doing this fine am?
Okay, thanks! Pleased that the Trump Shutdown has ended, at least for the nonce; but sorry that so far I can't see a reason to think this as a long-term solution.

I hear you, brother. The next few weeks will be fascinating for political junkies and simultaneously terrifying for anyone who loves America.
Our politicians need to really get away from using shutdowns as political leverage. This is bad for the country regardless of party affiliation.
My guess is there will be numerous proposals re: border security—including proposals with MORE than 5.7 billion for border security that the Dems will support. The problem is going to be 1) Dems will insist that this funding NOT go to construction of a wall 2) they will likely ask for something like a PERMANENT DACA fix.
My guess is that if there is a 5-10 billion dollar package for border security and reasonable demands for a DACA fix by Dems that many GOP Senators will want to support such legislation. Trump may not though. I do think it is possible that there is a second shutdown.
If the Dems can come across as being reasonable and if they agree to a border security package of > 5.7 billion (but no wall money) AND Trump still plays hardball leading to a shutdown—Trump will suffer politically from such a scenario much more than the Dems.
