Payday today: Secret Service are working without pay & the White House isn’t paying its water bill.
Trump is going to run the country just like a (bankrupt Trump) business!
Legal questions....what are the limits of using this disaster relief fund? Basically what argument can his legal team make? The various talking heads say it’s not possible, but we are headed down that path. Does this go to what defines a national emergency or natural disaster?

The only limit is the sanity of donny (ha ha) & the courts (inevitably litigated). Precedent is the biggest factor (there is none). It’s a way of stalling/saving face. Mueller is coming, they don’t have to stall for long.
I thought this Trump guy was supposed to be good at making deals.
The deal is, donny boy eats Big Macs until he explodes and still gets paid, while everyone else goes broke!

He’s amazing at marketing his brand and name, always has been. Many people paid him just so they could throw his name on a building or product. He created this aura of wealth, he brought a caricature to life, rode it to the bank, made a living on reality tv and rose from the depths of bankruptcy and failure because of reality tv.
His deal making is mostly paying too much for something or stomping his feet until he gets what he wants.

Yes, NPR has a good article here :
https://www.npr.org/2019/01/09/683501440/congress-aims-to-control-presidents-emergency-powersWouldn't even be hard and it won't fund Congress. I'm surprised Trump hasn't done it already
Should Trump decide to circumvent Congress by declaring a national emergency to build a border wall, he would very likely rely on a statute that lets him reprogram unobligated funds that Congress has appropriated for military construction projects.
"It's probably about $20 billion funding that the military has available right now in military construction and family housing accounts that has not yet been obligated," says Todd Harrison, who directs defense budget analysis at the Center for Strategic and International Studies.
"So if President Trump were to use this money for building a wall," Harrison says, "I suppose that would mean taking away money for other military construction projects."
Trump is successful at marketing his brand to Putin.
Good morning! How are all you LRC stable geniuses doing this fine am?

Wouldn’t it be challenged on legal or ethical concerns? Would it also set a dangerous precedent for future presidents? This whole fight is really about the limits of presidential authority and how our government is supposed to function. As example....it’s not the Senate’s (McConnell’s) job to ONLY send the president bills with prior presidential approval. You send up what Congress has come up with then the president can veto or not, it’s sent back down and the process repeats until compromise is made. One side or one person doesn’t hold the government hostage. All sides have done this in the past.

Yes it will be challenged, and yes this would set a dangerous precedent for future presidents. Will Republicans like it if a Democrat President decides more funding is needed (and a national emergency) for abortions, for gun control, for health care, etc.?
What is likely to happen after Trump is out of office (and maybe before), things will change a bit, curtailing the power of the President. Clear language will be made so that a President can't pardon himself or herself for example.
With all this border wall nonsense, some of you might have wondered what the main news story continues to be. It IS Trump and the collusion with Russia that he and his staff participated in.
The result is...
Mueller is coming.
The clown is done.
That’s why you should never have sex with Putin; it’s so hard to get the blood stains off your clown costume!

The Trump Admin has decreed that a part of the closed government is essential, and they must come back to work. So, who are these forgotten "essential" people?
"Furloughed federal workers are suddenly being ordered back to wildlife refuges across the nation during the government shutdown in part so that people can hunt."
Yes, federal workers to support hunters are critical. Federal workers to clean up human crap in the parks because restrooms are closes are not essential.
https://www.apnews.com/d4e444381057439d98b112f419348e5eMost of the Senate already went home for weekend; 3 more days of shutdown at least.
After careful consideration, today is the day that I join Fat Hurts in his assertion that "Tiny is going to prison".
It is clear that the SDNY will indict or already has indicted Trump under seal regarding FELONY campaign finance law violation and that he will go to prison when he is out of office. He still will face other charges on the federal level (and still more from the state level, likely related to bank fraud or some other type of fraud), but he could be pardoned by Pence regarding those federal charges. He could be pardoned by the governor regarding the state charges, but that is highly unlikely.
The way out for him to avoid prison is if they allow some sort of plea deal involving his resignation. I think there may be a plea deal of some sort, but even if there is that he will still have to serve some time in prison. He is in big, big trouble.
Mueller is coming.
The clown is done.
Nice to have you on board.
I hope we are right. This president clearly deserves a long stay in the slammer.
