this is silly. Trump has been scrupulous in following court orders. He has done absolutely nothing to indicate he won't leave voluntarily.
I haven't seen anything to indicate that he is not a full-blown authoritarian. His insane behavior and authoritarian tendencies make me believe that he will not accept a legal order to leave office.
The man is unstable.
I consider #2 and #3 to be very likely.
1) He IS unstable for sure.
2) A person can't be a full-blown authoritarian unless he has full cooperation of the rest of the government and the military, and he does not have that.
3) Thrown in prison? Perhaps, but not because he is refusing to leave office. It will be because of his other crimes and likely only after he is out of office...and again while possible, I still think he will avoid prison.
4) Flees to exile? Perhaps. While this would be dramatic, it would not surprise me, and I am not predicting it.[/quote]
2) I'm not saying he is a successful authoritarian. I don't think he will be able to consolidate his power in the military and you are correct that he would need that to be successful. I don't think he's smart enough to pull that off. Maybe I shouldn't have said, "full-blown". I'm just saying that he thinks as an authoritarian and therefore he will leave office like an authoritarian.
3) When an authoritarian is thrown in prison it never for "refusing to leave office". I'm not suggesting that would be the charge. The charge would be related to the Russia matter.
4) I'm not sure if he's smart enough to pull of "flee to exile" either. I guess the way it would work would be to meet Putin at a summit and say, "Take me into custody". Putin would be most happy to oblige.
