Good job!

And another signature Lying Gary Lite post.
Serious, Igy, you can come out. Agip despises you just as much while you are hiding.
Who’s Agip or Lying Gary? Only person I know is that Flagpole guy and he certainly does not like Trump.
Have to agree, I have never figured out who is Lying Gary or his Lite brother. The agip fellow and that Flagpole guy, Runningart poster, and the LG guy make up at least 50% of the posts. Seems like they spend hours talking to themselves. I suppose the Trump folks have long lost interest. Besides Trump is still President much to their chagrin.
Yeah I just stop by every once in a while and throw some kerosene on the flames. It's going to be fun for the next 6 years. M@GA.
Yea, it doesn’t take much to stir the pot. Then in a flash, they’re slathering at the mouth with all sorts of disjointed and incoherent comments.
Godspeed on this.
Discovery okd on the emoluments case. This will be fun - they get to look at all kinds of trump org documents. Imagine the crimes that will be 'discovered.'
It will be epic, petty and sad all at the same time.

Oh, Lying Gary. How far you have fallen. Always in hiding. Lurking about in your private rat maze. Not daring to show your real name.
So, so sad. Almost sad enough to make me feel sorry for you.

Lying Gary
I think I speak for the majority when I say stop with the stupid 'you are lying gary' posts.
We got it. We understand your view. Your turning the thread into your hyper- breathy anti-Gary show does nothing for anyone but you.
Let me just also say that I am very tired of the Confederacy. When will they join the rest of the nation? Is now a good time? Or will the Confederate States keep up their Jim Crow and call us arrogant for complaining about their white power symbols? Sorry - call us arrogant for complaining about their 'culture and history?'
I don't think this story has much to do with "Old South" ideology. It's just plain vote tampering. If these crimes were committed, I just hope the perpetrators are locked up for a long time.

the data show that african AMERICANS were disproportionately hurt by this. but yeah in most of these confederate places, outside the cities the white people are Rs and everyone else is a D, so untangling race from political parties is impossible. (which is why undoing gerrymandering is so hard) How will our representative democracy survive a white grievance party? We know how that worked out for the Confederacy - generations of hate, violence, poverty and failure. I hope that's not what we will get from team red.

If you target Democrats in the South you will disproportionately target African Americans. Again, this particular story has nothing to do with Old South ideology. If they could identify Democrats as people who like cotton candy then they would have gone after cotton candy eaters. Liberals need to stop painting voter suppression as a problem of white-on-black crime. People outside the African-American community need to see this as a problem that affects their own right to vote. Until that happens, we won't get much reform.

not completely disagreeing, but the interesting question is why all the white people are Rs. Seems to me that a good part of that reason is racial - they don't want to be associated with black people, they want to keep black people down, and probably most importantly, they really, really, really don't want their tax dollars going to welfare for black people. That ticks whites off more than anything - the (false) idea of them working to support lazy black people. that's why white people in the south consistenlty vote against their economic self interest - they'd rather lose their healthcare than live life believing that their tax dollars go to support poor black people. It's truly an obscene thought to them. none of this is simple.
Racism is still a problem to be sure. And the kind of people you describe definitely do exist. I just don't see racism as a primary motivator of voter suppression these days.
It's about winning at all costs. High-minded ideals about democracy have become passe' among Republicans.
As for your point about southern whites voting against their self interest, I like the way Molly Ivins explained it when she was talking about why they listen to Rush Limbaugh.
I know you'll think I'm crazy for saying it, but Democrats now have an opportunity to win Bubba's vote. Ol' Bubba actually has a good heart. He does have a sense of fair play. And if he starts to see Republicans as the rich white guys who control everything, he'll turn against them. He'll finally see who he's really getting shafted by.
Rooting out corruption is the key. Politically, it's the only thing that matters right now.
it's complicated of course....but I disagree that economics is the main cause for Bubba's loyal trump vote. I mean watch Fox News for an evening...and then you tell me that the problem is economic. Clearly it isn't . You'll see story after story pushing the culture war. Not econ. Culture war is what motivates the Trump base.
And abortion. That's a line many Rs won't cross, and again, it has nothing to do with economics.
Without knee jerk emotional issues like religion and guns and immigration where would the GOP be? Gone are the days of fiscal conservatism.
If voters used strictly economic issues and pocket book motivators there would never be a Republican in office....and that’s a bad thing. Free college? Free healthcare? Who doesn’t want that?
How are we going to pay for it used to be a thing, especially with the GOP. Now that doesn’t even matter anymore.
