1) Ford cannot open an investigation for the FBI.

2) She was not planning on being thrust into the public spotlight and it is only now that she is openly calling for an investigation because she is being put in the public spotlight.

The real issue for Kavanaugh is the Christine Blasey Ford will likely proceed with filling sexual assault charge against in the State of Maryland—where the assault occurred. There is NO statute of limitation for sexual assault in Maryland. If charges are filed Maryland will investigate the case. Witness will be interviewed—they have no choice.

Then it get really interesting. If Kavanaugh is official charged with a sex crime he would receive prison time. There is no law that states that a judge, any judge, even a SCOTUS judge, cannot be convicted of a sex crime. Trump will not be able to pardon Kavanaugh because it is a State matter. Kavanaugh he would lose his SCOTUS seat—assuming the Republicans can ram him through—by being impeached, and Kavanaugh goes to jail.

in all seriousness, this continues to be a delay tactic by the Ds. Ms Ford may believe she has a legitimate complaint, but that is not how this is being played. Right now, if the Rs accept the terms she has offered to testify, that delays the hearing until next Friday (1 week notice required). But there is no way they accept those terms, so now we are into October. At some point a hearing. I can't see that resolving anything. So then, the day before the vote she files charges in MD as suggested above. That takes a week or so to come up with whatever they come up with, likely nothing new. So then a new vote scheduled, probably October 10 or so. By then the Ds will have come up with the next delay tactic.

The Rs should bite the bullet and draw the line with the hearing kept on Monday. She had a weeks notice for this and didn't bother to respond for 3-4 days. D's will cry foul, but they will no matter what is done. Recall first they said you can't have 11 white men decide this, now Ms Ford's lawyer is insisting on that.

You guys need to get it through your hollow skulls that this is all being politicized because it’s a political process, shocker! However, no amount of politics should water down this type of accusation. It doesn’t matter who had the letter and for how long and when the accuser decided to say something. Allegations need to be taken seriously and especially for a SCOTUS nominee, period. That Dems are stalling or the GOP had 65 women instantly ready to defend him has zero to do with the underlying accusation. It doesn’t make the accusation less serious. They simply need to be taken seriously. Isn’t that easy to see, even through trumper goggles?
