Listening to that audio book during a run this morning - I literally stopped a few times from too much laughter.
It was covering the initial meetings between Bannon and Trump many years ago when’s Trump was thinking of running against Obama. Bannon is basically brilliant in understanding the different layers of the conservative voter and what will appeal to them. Trump is sitting there trying to convince Bannon that he would crush it against Obama and Bannon thinks he is a complete moron.
In one funny segment, Bannon and an associate tell Trump he’s pro-choice, based on the history of interviews and public comments and the politicians he had supported. Trump asked him to clarify wht pro-choice means...
In another take, Bannon tells Trump voters are open to a populist candidate, and Trump replies “I can be popularist” and keep lá repeating the term even after being corrected several times.
On another segment, Bannon tells Trump he will need to dish out a lot of contributions to Republicans to start appealing to the base and the party, because he had mostly given to Democrats. Trump fiercely claims he’d given mostly to Reublicans, a total lie. They tell him it’s in the public record, almost 80% of his donations were to Democrats.
Another one was about the number of times he’d voted in last elections. Trump outright claims to them he had voted in every single election since he was old enough. Bannon then shows him a record of his only vote in an election, which for Rudy as NYC mayor. The guy lies 24/7 - he simply operates that way, he doesn’t know what honesty is.
