ADVANTAGE Mueller.

Damn, he's getting real close to only 1/3 of the country supporting, with 2/3 either definitely against him, or not willing to say they support him.
That's a serious gap. If the Mueller probe accelerates, with approval ratings like that, the Repubs will throw him under the bus, and wipe their hands of him.
I'm almost starting to feel bad for the guy.

It was indeed a very bad day for Trump approval ratings. I don't know exactly what happened on August 29th but most of the polls that include that day in the sampling indicate a drop of a couple of points, with some into the high 30s. Some analysts have speculated that it was the contrast between McCain and Trump, and specifically the low class way Trump handled that situation.
Still too early to know if it was a mere blip, and the numbers will restore soon, or a sustained drop. I tend to think it was a blip. With the economy going strong it naturally aligns with an approval rating that can't drop too far for too long.
The outliers are interesting but the best source is the daily compilation on 538, Nate Silver's site. He rates every pollster based on past history and adjusts some of the polls accordingly. For example, the Rasmussen number is always dropped either 4 or 5 points. Posters here will scream but Nate is not doing that randomly or because he feels like it. There are also many polls that are adjusted in Trump's favor.
Anyway, today was the first day since April 30th that Trump's approval on 538 dropped below 41.0%:
https://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/trump-approval-ratings/
Trump is down to 40.3% "approval" and has been on a downward slide for the last week his approval was at 42.1%. The last time his approval rating slide in a similar manner below 40% he stayed below 40% for six months. My guess is if he drops below 40% he will continue down to 38-39% and remain their for many months, certainly through the November elections.

And if this was one incident and any other president it would be a blip as 2020 is a very very long time away. 2018 is done. The Dems will make gains. How much? Who knows. Trump still has astronomically high approval by the GOP.
For 2020, there’s just so much fodder for the campaign ads where will the Dem candidate start? This is what worries me the most....because Hillary is still lurking out there and could easily jump on the defeat Trump in 2020 train.
For the GOPs sake they really should throw Trump to the wolves, impeach or convince him to resign, then Pence is their man. And Pence can bring out the evangelical vote and Reagan Democrats like no other.
Could it be Pence v Clinton in 2020?

Sorry, I tend to agree with "Awsi Dooger" on this one: I think this is more likely a blip. But I could be wrong, particularly if/when more really-bad-for-Trump stuff comes down the road.
I appreciate that AD tends to post facts as well as opinions, and seems to accept that nuance is actually possible in human affairs. I've said this for about a year and a half now: If you give the Trump Administration an "A" or an "F," you're just stating partisanship--you're not making an intellectually honest assessment.

Trump is not going to successfully impeached prior to 2020. If he is impeached unsuccessfully, he will easily win the 2020 election.
The best thing for the Democrats would be to sit back, maybe run a couple of investigative committee's out there to keep the schit in the news, and run a good candidate out there in 2020. I have my doubts they have the ability to do this.
All these polls do is point out how people feel about the current POTUS. They don't ask who voters would choose in an actual election. Push comes to shove, most Republicans are voting for the Republican in a national election (same on the other side). The real valuable information is identifying the true independent and polling them as to who they would vote for.
I started a thread about this, but who knows whether or how long it'll stay up: Assuming my arithmetic was correct, the current four-year presidential term was 40% complete as of Monday evening, August 27th.
Make of that what you will.

So, you were wrong a year and a half ago and you continue to be wrong.

You obviously failed to look at the Nate Silver chart. You post smells of intellectual dishonesty, weakly attempting to be honest.
If you did actually look at the chart you would see a several quick downward slides below 40%; one that stayed under 40% for SIX months. You are hoping (praying) this is a blip. But you have to wait another week or two to see if the trend remains downward (this is what called intellectually honesty). Recent events, Trump Tweets and other Trump mishaps, are more favorable to a continued side down.
Two of those recent mishaps are related to Stephen Miller's newest Trump approved deportation plans. Those are having ICE detain people who have official, hospital issued, American birth certificates. Who are these people who Stephen Miller and Trump want to deport? Mexican-Americans who live near the US-Mexico border, and Vietnamese who came to the US to escape Vietnam before the Vietnam War. What do these people have in common? They have lived in the US for 30-40 years. Those who can vote tend to vote Democratic. And they are not white.

BS. How about an F-? Donald Trump is a crook, and it will be proven. He is beginning to ramp up talk of "getting involved" with the DOJ, so basically doing everything he can to stop the Mueller investigation. He is a dictator wannabe, he doesn't understand how our government works, he's a serial liar, and on and on and on. He is by far the worst President we have ever had, and he brings out the worst in those who follow him.
If it were possible to get a lower grade than an F, he would deserve that, and you don't have to be a Democrat to know so; just have to be a rational thinking person.

On a separate note - the way the country is reacting to McCain’s death is literally eating Trump alive. You’ve got people from all walks of life praising him. There is no way Trump hasn’t thought about the probable turnout for his own funeral and the public reaction. He must know it will be at best non-existent and more likely “good riddance”. He absolutely cannot stand it when reality pierces his little ego bubble. Reminds me of a colleague who is a member of a prestigious Westchester County country club. He said every now and then Trump’s driver would walk in and announce Trump was there if anyone wanted to play with him. You would rarely see it happen. He is a reject.

But winter is coming
And Mueller might be coming for others close to Trump
Hopefully Dems will win a majority in the House and can bottle up the remainder of his presidency.
Meanwhile, Trump has decided he as dictatorial power to approve a Mexico-US trade agreement without Canada included. Congress has told the Orange Moran that they will only approve a trade agreement that include Canada. But, Trump cannot win--have an agreement overly favor the US--against Canada so they must be excluded. Trump's plan is to approve his version of a trade agreement and have his minions enforce it, and leave Congress out as a check-and-balance against his dictatorial desires. . . . Trump expects Republicans to bend over him as they always have.
