No. We wouldn't have this problem if the Trump campaign/administration and the GOP had told the Russians to pound sand instead of conspiring with them for political gain.
I do think one of the biggest mistakes the Obama administration made (repeatedly) in regards to foreign policy was their handling of Russia. I realize hindsight is 20/20 but Obama should’ve....
1) Taken out Assad in 2011 or 2012–would’ve been especially justified after he “crossed the red-line” in regards to chemical weapons
2) boycotted the 2014 Winter Olympics over Russian actions in Crimea. Related to this—Obama should’ve pressured the IAAF and FIFA to move the Moscow World Champs and the World Cup our of Russia. That would’ve really pissed off Putin and hit him where it hurt.
3) Pushed harder for sanctions / international criminal court action after Russia shot down that passenger plane over Ukraine killing ~200 innocent civilians
...though if you go back even further, Bush II should’ve reacted more forcefully to the radioactive poisoning of a Russian spy in the UK.
We’ve been too soft on Russia for quite a while. Unfortunately, Trump is clearly a Putin lackey and too weak to stand up to this disgusting Russian thug.
