So that right there is already why it's currently Kim 1-0 vs Trump. Kim gets a huge power boost, both domestically and with China just by having been noticed enough by the world's global power to have been invited to talk directly. So Trump already gave something up in return for nothing. Actually I could say he is weakening our hand by exposing his personal weakness to a dictator. Kim knows Trump wants so desperately to achieve a win so that is a vulnerability for the US.
I'll give him credit for opening the discussion and taking the risk though. I hope he does well and I won't even criticize him for sending money since others in the past have tried that (the price for keeping peace). Now if he somehow worsens the situation he will deserve all the criticism.
