No, it wasn't that long ago and that's a stupid stance to take. The S.O.L. is not 5 years dumbo.

Well as they say............put up or shut up. Idle speculation with no basis in facts or concrete evidence does no one any good, in particular the author of the allegations (you, and perhaps MSLSD). Perhaps you can take your obvious Russian money laundering evidence to Mueller and see if its something he can use. Perhaps he'll give you a finders fee for it. Or your theories on the obstruction charge which would of course lead to impeachment. I think I'm gonna watch some fantasy syfi movies this weekend.

The article's title suggest that his resignation is due to him being a birther, which is based on information from 5-6 years ago. He posted plenty of anti-Obama material since then (which is grounds enough for his resignation, in my opinion).
He also told his followers not to "like" his posts as a way of protecting him because of his job at the DoD. So, he knew he was not meeting the requirements of the job. He took the job anyway, and pretty much lied that he was complying with the rules--not attacking a sitting president regardless of your personal political ideology.
Right. Like I said, I'm not defending him, and I think his behavior since taking the job has more than warranted his resignation, but posting a false article about Obama 5 years before you take a job in the Trump administration should not be the disqualifying factor. My issue is more with CNN's claim that his 'birther' post from 2012 is the real problem, when it reality it was his continued postings about Obama had nothing to do with alleged birthplace.

So what evidence do you have that Trump has done anything even close to what the Clinton's have gotten away with for years?
And what evidence of crimes do you have that the Clinton's have gotten away with for years? And, no, a Fox News or Breitbart conspiracy is not evidence.

And your understanding of yesterday's news about Mueller's investigation is simply wrong. A 'subject' of an investigation can become a 'target' at any moment. It's likely obstruction of justice will be used to start impeachment proceedings. The bigger crimes will come later.
I may be wrong but I think we can rule out sealed indictments. It would be unethical for Mueller to declare that Trump is not a target when he really is.
Sure, prosecutors do lie. And sometimes they do it for strategic reasons. But I don't think Mueller would want to taint his investigation in that way.
You might be right, but what I've read in the past 24 hours seems to indicate that it is not unethical for Mueller to withhold calling Trump a 'target' of the investigation if doing so would "jeopardize the investigation or prosecution."

Posted the username thief. Sigh...
I'm using Trump logic. The Trump response to multiple felony pleas Mueller delivered was that it was so long ago it didn't matter. Therefore, Clinton anything was so long ago it doesn't matter.

This is the first confirmation we have that Trump himself is under investigation. It is not good news for him. This investigation has always focused on the little fish first, so it is not surprising that Trump is not yet a Target and is still a Subject. He wasn't a Subject initially, and it has progressed to the point that he now is. Mueller didn't even begin until July 2017, so he's not even a year in. It's amazing the stuff he's found since then. Mueller actually has NOT said he isn't coming. This is what I thought some of you would have said before I posted today, but no one had, so I was pleasantly surprised. Now, with you I no longer am.
Mueller is coming.
The clown is done.
So, you use SNL and other late night television to tell you how an investigation is going? Interesting. Also, the Stormy Daniels AFFAIR happened MORE than a decade ago, but the payoff and lying about it happened in 2016 just before the election, and there is still a possibility that a crime was committed there with where the money came from. The Stormy Daniels story is more about Trump being a liar than a misogynist. He is both for sure, but this story shows he's a HUGE liar and he is surrounded by goons. Completely relevant, and not a "far left liberal media" going after him. Many Democrats have been felled by trysts with women in my lifetime -- Gary Hart, John Edwards, Bill Clinton to name just some. With Trump, he's such a bad person that of course he f*cked some porn star and then paid her to keep quiet. It's not even at the top of the list of things most Americans are concerned about with him, but it it relevant. We have to assume at least SOME sense of honesty with regard to our President, and Trump has taken lying to a whole new level.
This Mueller investigation can not be complete without an interview with Trump, and when that happens, he WILL perjure himself unless all he does is plead the 5th, and then that will be a big problem for him too.
I agree that Mueller doesn't need to trick Trump into testifying. I still say he should not be celebrating. We had never had confirmation before that Trump was even a Subject, and now we do. So, just let that sink in a little bit...the sitting US President is a Subject in a criminal investigation performed under the umbrella of the FBI about how and why Russia interfered with our election.
That is NOT good news for him.
There are only three possibilities in this type of investigation:
Target
Subject
Witness
As the investigation continues, Targets are likely to have charges leveled against them. Of the two remaining, Witnesses are the least likely to have charges leveled against them, and Subjects are more likely. The status of a person can and does change through the course of an investigation. So, what I said was true. Being a Subject of a criminal investigation (which Trump is and now has been confirmed) is the "next worse" when looking at all three possibilities.
No one should be happy to be told that they are the Subject of a criminal investigation, especially not one under the umbrella of the FBI.

You should know me well enough to know that I don't post wild allegations.
I checked with several reliable sources before posting that children as young as three are forced to represent themselves in immigration court. It does sound too crazy to be true. But it is true. And the Trump administration is making the problem worse.
Again, Donald Trump is godless, heartless, and sleazy. He needs to go. This is not what America stands for.

I think you are right here, and I hope so. I think more likely is that the investigation is just still ongoing and not much time has been spent focusing on Trump just yet. I know it seems like a long time for people in today's world of instant gratification, but Mueller has only been on the job since July. For an investigation of this type, that is not that long at all. Very short in fact.
Mueller is like a Fed Chairman, he doesn't want to spook the masses, so he's going to give them forward guidance. The investigation started by not officially recognizing Trump as part of it at all. Then it was revealed that several people close to Trump were subjects, who then became targets, with some going to jail. Now Trump has been upgraded from nobody to subject and later will be upgraded from subject to target. It's all very subtle as to provide cushion for the fallout. Mueller will get to the truth while managing to keep this from become a full political crisis to the best of his ability. Trump has the attention span of a fish while Mueller has algorithmically complex thinking, he's already 20 steps ahead in a game of chess while keeping Trump believing they are playing marbles.
THIS^. BIGLY BAD NEWS FOR TRUMP.
It's funny to see how the Trumpers continue moving the goalposts ever so gradually. From it's a hoax to Trump is vindicated by being a 'subject' of the investigation. Ask any criminal defense lawyer if being named a subject of an investigation is a good thing. It's not.
A little secret for Trumpers... Mueller has been moving the goalposts for you, preparing the public for the big news yet to come. Drip, drip, drip.

This is something I've been thinking about lately. I think you make a good point about moving the goalposts gradually. If Mueller ever does indict the president, it would have to be done in a way that the public is ready for it.
Think what would happen in Mueller filed charges today. Assume Mueller presents evidence to a judge that is just as serious as the evidence against Manafort.
Would he be treated like Manafort?
Would he face house arrest in the White House?
Would he wear an ankle bracelet?
Would he be deemed to be the biggest flight risk of all time and therefore be taken into custody?
The whole world would go nuts.

I'm glad that I was forced to register my name so that my thoughts, as moronic as they may be, are credited to me, a 63 year old man grasping for straws. I agree that the Clintons were both corrupt and did awful things (Travelgate, Whitewater, Starbucks and Mahoney, etc...), but they got away with it and in the end weren't prosecuted. Trump has not done anything close to their level, but I still wish Hillary would have won as I'm a Democrat thru and thru, I believe the Government should intervene and give away free programs like Obama did. Wait, he skyrocketed deductibles to thousands of dollars per person but said we could keep our own doctor and insurance companies...come to think of it, he scammed us good!
Democrats=More Government and More Free Programs.
