Man the Dow dropped over 700 points today, going in the 23K range.
It was just over 26,000 a bit ago ...
... until Trump kept announcing tariffs.
I know that the president doesn't often directly affect the stock market but in this case he has.

Mulvaney, Acosta Override Regulatory Office to Hide Tips Rule
This has Trump's fingerprints all over it. The guy really has no clue he's President.
This is actually much worse than "forgotten voters" forgotten.

January was pretty rough.
Look at it another way, the American economy is still in the second longest expansion cycle since anyone tracked it. It's going to end at some point.
Trump is certainly helping with policy that will cool the economy.

Trump prefers to be associated with bad news than not be talked about at all. Trumpkins did elect an egomaniac after all. If he can't be trusted to take advice from intelligent people than he can't be trusted at all.

There will always be corrections, but they come in different forms and intensity. If we go into a sustained bearish environment a guy like Trump can and will only make matters worse.
Btw - every single world leader is laughing at him and us right now. I know that doesn't bother his supporters like Gary because they think whatever upsets the order must be a good thing, but he is quickly becoming unhinged and without support. He has a history of chronic employee turnover. He likes to believe he is the one firing them and that it means he's putting on the heat and getting fresh people and ideas, but the universal rule is people have to believe it too otherwise your power ends.
Republicans are actively trying to prevent due process from happening in the United States of America's congress and in elections (i.e. Wisconsin). Why do republican voters hate America so much? I find it incredible that there are still a few military folks who think republicans are suited for office despite actively trying to sabotage democracy.
The GOP needs to go and go it will. They protect radical Christian terrorists, they try to prevent elections for ideological reasons, they refuse to act when nepotism in the White House weakens US influence abroad, they vote for trillion dollar deficits, they vote for literal Nazis, and all while telling voters they don't deserve healthcare or quality education unless they pay private companies more than they can afford to have access to it, and they discriminate and rape at will.
All you Garys and jamins and Hardlopers want is to be able to create the rules and do so in a way that is specifically favorable to you and want to codify it in law (and change the system so that is legal to do so). It's always the same bullsh!t driven by a need to feel bigger than someone else who’s inherently better than you, so that you don't have to confront the cold, hard fact that you are useless, stupid, arrogant, and lazy. No one will give two sh!ts when you die, having provided zero benefit to humanity.

Look no further than Chuck Schumer: "I don’t agree with President Trump on a whole lot, but today I want to give him a big pat on the back. He is doing the right thing when it comes to China... President Trump is exactly right."

Nope. The only reason to do this is to bring China to the table and get them to honor intellectual property rights, and open their markets to our companies. Hopefully that's what this is about.
What Schumer actually said was: "Trump must back down from ‘sweeping’ tariffs".https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/schumer-trump-must-back-down-from-e2-80-98sweeping-e2-80-99-tariffs/ar-BBJYUvE

Nope. Trump is evil and will get us all killed. He must be stopped.
Good post - folks like Gary took Trump's win to mean a revival of Republican dominance. However, when you look at the 15-yr or so trajectory before the election you see clear corrosion and disintegration of the GOP. So, the reason Trump was elected is because of that massive wedge in the party, which by the way has only worsened with him taking office. The GOP has not figured out what identify it needs to take to continue to be relevant and powerful. It's now split between Trump backers and the rest who have no backbone and no message. As far as the voters, lets see just how much appetite for other flamboyant "outsiders" they will have in future elections.

He has. To be fair, PART of the reason it went up so much initially, and I will admit a big part, was due to the deregulation he promised and engaged in. It wouldn't matter to me if he suddenly decided to do everything (policywise) I thought a President should do...he is just too corrupt, too much of a liar, and such a bad person that I would not care. He can not do enough good ever to counteract what he has done...the US currently is beholden to Russia which is lead by a ruthless dictator, and this is because of Trump.
He needs to go, and he will.
Mueller is coming.
The clown is done.
I am really enjoying my worry free existence in the maze, but what the hell is that giant thing they are bringing toward me?
They are calling it the Mountain of Guilt. The other rats found out that I'm a middle aged white male, so the only way I can stay in the liberal media rat maze is if I carry the Mountain of Guilt on my back as penance for all the social injustices that have occurred throughout history.
They say there is no redemption, that no amount of "caring" will wash away the sins of my white skin, and that I must carry this burden for the rest of my life.
That thing looks waaaay heavier than the Burden of Proof, Logic, and Reason I used to carry around before I got here. I'm not strong enough. I'm getting out of here!
Phew! That was close! You rats damn near dropped the Mountain of Guilt on head.
I liked the liberal media rat maze, but the price was just too high. Maybe I'll find a way to get back in and talk to you guys without someone dropping so much guilt on me.
Oh, and if Trump signs this Omnibus bill it basically means he's surrendering to the swamp. At that point I don't care what Mueller does, it won't matter either way.

So, Trump signs the huge pending bill and you will be done with Trump? Is that right?
Gary is falling apart. None of his pals are around so he’s created another persona to connect with.

You are a complete fool if you believe this. The decision is purely driven by ego and is just plain idiotic. Nothing is going to force China to honor intellectual rights to open their borders, because they don’t have to. All they need to do is sit back and watch Trump fall out of favor with his remaining supporters for totally fvcking American companies and all of our population which are dependent on cheap Chinese goods and labor. Whatever he does in this space will be immediately rolled back by the next POTUS. What a joke this president is, wanting to appear tough and decisive. Maybe he should skip golf to read a few books or listen to intelligent people, that might help.

Wrong, you can’t disassociate yourself with your support for him. So cut the cr@p and sit tight, you are going to sink with the ship.
