My dad thought I was 26. I'm 28. Is this weird at all?

I think as you get older it is normal for them to not know the exact age without doing the math. After you hit 16, 18, 21, and maybe 25 and 30 the number has no meaning. My parents know my age, but they are never positive and always guess it correctly. If the topic comes up they look over at me and say, "What are you now, 34?" Me: Yes.
Yes that's weird (speaking as a Dad)
I don't think it's that weird. I'm terrible at remembering people's ages unless I do the math in my head. Like I don't know how old my parents are-late 50's I know, but would need to do the math to figure out exact age. Just not something I keep track of well. Some people do.

He's basically wondering when you're going to move out of the basement and cutting you some slack in the age department.
i can never remember how old my parents are. Sometimes i forget my brother and sisters age but then i remember we are 5 years apart

Your question makes you sound like you are 26.
My parents always got it wrong because they lied about my age.
It all goes back to summer vacations.
They wanted to get laid while on vacation
We reserved two rooms in a family run resort in the Catskill Mts of NY
The rule was you had to be over 14 to have your own room and
having their wisearsed 5 weeks short of 12 years old son in the room with them put pay to that uninterrupted wild & uninhibited sex idea.
Voila I became 14 when I was 11.

What difference does it make, you whining Millennial?
You deserve the spanking you obviously never got. Bend over.
My Mom knows how old everyone is. I think she does the math every time from her own age.
My Dad knows how old he is, but lies about it so much he'll probably forget soon.
After 25 or so, I agree. After that if you are within 5 years, that's good enough.
I'm lucky if I know how old I am.

Not really. As long as they know what age group you are in at the local 5k (25-29).
…do your parents, if you have them, know your pr's?
my parents just toss table scraps into the basement, they don't even know what I look like
My parents know my age and some of my PRs, I am 40. They are very supportive.

Not weird if your parents had lots of kids.
A bit weird if your parents had 2-3 kids.
Really weird if you're the only child.
What's really weird is if they don't know your PRs, when you got them, and what races you set them at.
Man, I have to think about it for a second when people ask me how old I am. Should I be worried about Alzheimer's down the road? Lol. But seriously.
I just wasn't sure because I know the ages of all my immediate family members as well as most of my relatives. Age wouldn't seem to matter much within a few years if we're talking 55 vs 57 or something, but I thought it was kind of odd given how relatively young I am. Scaled proportionally, two years off my age at 28 would be like being 4 or 5 years off the age of my parents. That seems kind of crazy to me.
I think its selfish to assume that everyone must know exactly what your age is.
