Serious question. WHy don't some Americans instead of running Houston just go to Dubai and try to hang on for halfway. How funny would it be to see our olympic hopefuls fist pumping when they drop out at halfway after a PB?

I don't think Bekele is in the group. But the announcers haven't noticed.
Maybe smart. They're well under pace.
Lead pack is now 14 at 10k. 28:58 is fast! Bekele is 5 secs off the lead.

Watching via Eversport from UK VPN, coverage decent but stream is so laggy, difficult to watch
He is not in the lead pack, which is behind two guys 5 secs further up the course, but I think 10 seconds off the actual leaders. Either way, he is about 30secs under Kimettos 10k mark.

No matter how fast, people would always consider it a DNF and question the legitimacy and accuracy of it. Always a DNF/
They also said a couple guys had a 5-6 second lead which isn't true. He's like 4-5s off the front, still in the strung out group.
Do the women have male pacers? or are those just randos that happen to be running with the women?

no, just random dudes hanging on for the ride.
-STR, wishing he was fast enough to hang on
the pacesetters for the lead male group are doing a nice job. pretty consistent splits
Have no fear, Kenny B.will find the gear, Pure Hate is sometimes hard to contain especially for 26 miles.
Expect Great Things, for America.
He's running smart friends we will see the record drop

Can you imagine paying $20 to watch a race and the guy who is going for the WR has been dropped and the announcers don't know it? You have to learn about it on the LetsRun.com messageboard.
How do they hire an announcer who doens't know who Ed WHitlock is? Every single year, I promise myself I"m going to email whoever is in charge of Dubai and tell them I'll fly out there on my own dime to commentate next year so they have someone who does a decent job.
It looks like good pace for a world record and as noted the pacemakers have been very consistent. It hasn't been like any of those years in london where the race goes out crazy fast. Regardless, this weather seems to be unforgiving. I am doubtful we will see anything in the realm of a world record. I wonder if Bekele will run down the field in the second half after the gap he gave in this first half.
The women look like they're out for a long run....any idea what pace they're on?
so they showed the lead pack of 9.... no KB? was he covered up in the middle or outside the lead pack?

Yeah, can the announcers explain this? They said he was in fourth and has been tucked in up front the whole time, but that's not true

Why don't you guys cover it? Why criticize their coverage when you can do the coverage 100 times better?

Too fast for the first 5k. This will be a blood bath.
Seriously though, at what point will they no longer be on WR pace?
The announcers are the worst.
1. They have no clue where is Bekele
2. they just said that they are 3 seconds within world record pace. The table show for each km how much faster it is is and not the aggregate.
3. One of them just said that if they run in 3 min every km they will break the wr and the other said, of course even if i can do the month...
4. Nothing about the heat and humidity
Why do announcers always suck so much???
RIP: D3 All-American Frank Csorba - who ran 13:56 in March - dead
RENATO can you talk about the preparation of Emile Cairess 2:06
