One time I used a stationary bike at the gym and sent the data in to BAA pretending that I had actually run that distance/time instead of bike it.
They bought it.
I ran Boston but I didn't finish anywhere close to my gym-time.
Congrats OP. BAA called and asked you run your race on the treadmill while watching the competition on TV.

No spikes but I did have a cooler of diet pop beside the treadmill to drink with the gu. If I do the marathon on the outside track, would the spikes make me faster?
Wear the spikes on the treadmill, that will surely help

I'm not completely sure this is a serious post but just in case it is, as far as I know, BAA qualifying times need to be run in actual competition. I haven't looked at their standards for some years but there was no way anyone got in with a time run on a treadmill, on a track by yourself, a solo road time trial, etc. Maybe that's changed but I doubt it.
If you really are serious about this and think you may get in with that treadmill performance, you need to get in touch with the BAA and ask specifically what conditions must be met for qualifying, or at the very least go to their website
and look for yourself. That you haven't done these things and instead are posting here makes me suspicious.

You rang?
http://9gag.com/gag/a8W5m2p/pirate-cat-gun-girlAre you a detective or something? Good work exposing this guy.
On a related note, I ran my BQ on a below sea level course, with a slight tailwind, a gradual downhill slope, and being paced by a truck. But it wasn't an official "race," so how do I submit that time?

I also just banged out a marathon on the treadmill - 1:05:01 below my qualifying time. Please let me know when you find out where to send your results.
Bad news Eric. Indoor marathon times can not be used as a BQ. Next time just roll that treadmill outside first.

Hi Eliud,
I finally got in touch with a representative of the Boston Marathon and was told my time would not be accepted since it was run on a treadmill. Since you also ran on a treadmill, it looks like you will not be allowed to run the Boston Marathon either.
I ran a really fast mile, and I'm pretty sure I can replicate it up to 26.2m over the next couple of weeks. Can I submit that?

I am just shocked that Eliud Kipchoge posted on this forum, in perfect English, and no one even noticed.

Thanks to everyone who has provided information. I just have one more question. I ended up running 28 miles when I ran the BQ time. Can I call myself an ultramarathoner or do you have to run an actual race to be eligible for that also?

It means your effort was worth 2 out a possible 10 points.
Want to be runners run on treadmill, real runners run outside. Treadmill does your work, man up & do it yourself on the roads.
