Tell on them. Most coaches want video evidence, so discreetly tape them.
@OP I know who are. I know where you sleep. I am your roommate. If you F me on this, after I get kicked off the team I will stop taking lactose pills and go on an all-pizza diet. The choice is yours.
Advising to don't snitch is inner city gangbanger mentality. Look how well the don't snitch policy is working out in Obama's Chicago. We are only half way through January and already 146 shot and 26 dead. Great advice people, the don't snitch policy has clearly created a paradise in Obama's Chicago and will work great for the kid's team too.
By the way Obama's Justice Department has come to the rescue and is going to get those murdering gangbangers, but wait, Obama has determined the cops are the bad guys and is going after them, not the 1500 murderering gangbangers.
How is this cheating? It's just getting out of doing the work. Cheating themselves is all this is. Who cares. If they want to suck, let them suck.
First of all there's no way this is a NCAA, D3 team.. MAYBE a shi**y JC but still hard to believe. Sounds like a HS to me! I've been around this kind of stuff & clown on them HARD in front of the team (not the coach) then other kids will join as well. Sounds harsh but as a captain I would eventually tell each one individually (Why you out here?) & make them think about themselves. Then saying, if you act like this in a sport I can't imagine how you'll deal with life. Then some will step it up & others will disappear. Simple. Also, if they're TRUE competitors on your team who are faster than you then definitely straighten this out with THEM INDIVIDUALLY. If not then screw them who cares about them. FIND THE DEDICATED GROUP ON THE TEAM & STICK WITH THEM. I bet it'll hard to avoid these guys but they'll bring you down. Your coach will eventually find out. Snitching is only for bi*ches
Who are they cheating?
Absolutely tell your coach. I was in your position once and didn't. I got to watch as the behavior spread to the rest of the team and soon enough on a 20 person team only three of us were doing anything at all. This shit spreads easily if people see they can get away with it.
3/10- Typical behavior for HS kids who don't care about being distance runners.
Don't tell the coach. Go directly to your AD, or contact the NCAA conduct office. Cheating is to be taken very seriously and the fact you are letting this happen without telling anyone could result in you yourself being punished!!
Yes, call home and tell their mommies

4/10 troll post... you just sound too stupid
Fess up, is this really NCAA? There can't be that many NCAA coaches who skip workouts.
Either way, you should just tell the coach, but don't take a video.

Can't be college; has to be a boarding school.
Stop being the bi*ch...
It is a culture thing. Of course it is hurting the team; it is hurting the culture. That is not what is best for you, your teammates, your coach and your program in whole.
If you have anyone else who is on your side, you should confront your teammates with them (a group of 2-3). If this doesn't work, then go straight to your coach.
If you are the only one in your group that sees this as an issue, then go straight to your coach. Right away. Don't wait around.
If this is really a high school team then I wouldn't tell. Focus on yourself and making yourself better and go off to run at a college with people who care.
If this is a college team, then wow. Definitely tell your coach! One of two scenarios can happen.
One: your coach is thankful and actually takes action to rectify the situation. Even if that means a chunk of your roster is gone, sometimes things have to break down in order to be built back up again. I was on a college team where a bunch of people quit to be happy having the typical college experience away from sports, we then sucked the next season, and over the next two seasons built a culture and improved remarkably. We weren't NCAA champions or anything close, but we got what we wanted out of the sport and handed the team down to a new generation continuing to build it.
Two: your coach really may not care at all after telling him and do nothing about it. You, then, can either just run for yourself and accept things the way they are, or you can transfer out and succeed elsewhere.
Good luck.
