I did this a couple years ago. Took about four hours. Don't see any news stories about me!

That is really cool that he did that, but darn if I knew this would be a story man I would have posted selfies a while ago. Living in Co this is a 10-15 times a year thing. And I am well aware that I am not alone in this.
Now in NC how often do they get snow?
Not very often. I imagine they get it more in the mountains. It's one of those instances where he overcame an obstacle that seems impressive in the snow-starved south, whereas other runners on LRC from harsher climates do this multiple times a season with no recognition.
What a courageous young man. Must have been a harrowing experience.
In HS our coach would pull us out of nice warm indoor gym class and make us go out and shovel the track(6 lanes all the way round needed to be cleared).
What are the chances parents allowing that. If a coach did that today surely he would be out of a job the next day

Run in shorts and drop a 9:01 without drone footage and then we'll talk about your awesome accomplishment shoveling 2 inches of snow.
Best part about the story is just after finishing the shoveling our intrepid runner went to change into his trainers. As changed shoes, two women came and started walking in the cleared path and would not budge from their side by side setup for an hour even while texting on their iphones.
Scraping a blade repeatedly over an expensive track seems like a poor idea.

It looks to me like he only shoveled one lane. Doesn't most tracks have at least 8 lanes?
To shovel one lane of snow that shallow probably took 5 minutes at most. I am wonder if this is an achievement because he's a millennial, or because he's in North Carolina.
This is a cool, light hearted story that is positive for running.
Those complaining about the coverage are miserable pricks who can't stand others getting attention, while ironically giving this kid more attention.
And those saying he should run on the snow aren't too smart because you can injure yourself with those little slides you get on each stride on a slippery surface.

Yeah, but Trevor didn't do any of the shoveling, therefore this guy is much more impressive (as far as the average Joe is concerned).
Any legal people out there? Here's one for you: If the younster injured himself shoveling, or slipped on the track injuring himself during his workout, could he sue the school district? 😨
Doesn't the school district have the responsibility of clearing the track and ensuring it's safe for use? Just Say'in 😯

Was it legal for him to be on the track doing that in the first place?
Don't tell his girlfriend that that's not 8 inches.
Also no surprise this kids wearing shorts over tights.
Emma looked better when she did it

Good question. Let's say he dumps it on the track and seriously injures himself, requiring medical treatment, does he have a liability case against the district for negligence? I would think if the school districts are going to allow their track facilities open for public use, then wouldn't district have the responsibility to clear the track & ensure it's safety? Otherwise, shouldn't the track be closed to public usage? 😕

Not in the case of taxpayer-funded facilities 😯. There's a responsibility to ensure they're safe and not dangerous. These school districts are always whining for more money, and want the taxpayers to always pony-up for more $$$ 😡. If this younster was allowed to run on this track, then they should clear the track with their fancy snow removal equipment...oh I forgot, that might require a tax increase 😦
Meanwhile Hagg used to seek out waist deep snow.
Totally inefficient system he employs here. You need to move the snow the least amount of distance. That means once around the track with the blade at an angle, deeper the snow, sharper the angle. One pass should be sufficient enough for a single runner.
Where's this guy from North Carolina? Amateur. Hobby shoveler.
