The W3000 looks interesting to say the least.
-
Why is Leah O'Connor listed as unattached? Lost adidas contract?
-
anyone know when Thomas Ratcliffe is making his indoor debut?

i wouldn't read too much into that. based on her instagram she's clearly still with adidas. -
Where has Mary Cain been? Thought for sure she would make a go in the mile.

Can someone explain why an 8th grader needs to travel to Seattle to run an indoor 3k against college and pro women? Honestly, I don't get what the parents could possibly be thinking here. Hiring a private coach and pushing the limits of HS XC competitions is one thing. But this is getting ridiculous.

"M 1 Mile
1 Philibert-Phiboutot, Charles Unattached"
That's quite a name, although I hear his kick is absolutely ferocious. -

Two reasons
No other 8th grade girls can keep up with her so what is the point of running every race when you know you are going to win.
They couldn't get all the college and pro women to go to Utah to run against GP. -
The real reason Ping is there is because Utah won't allow an 8th grader to run. She can only run out of state.
-
What I don't get is the need for an 8th grader to race in January. I understand finding appropriate races. She can do that in June. Why does she need to race indoors at all? Plenty of HS girls don't even have an indoor season and seem okay with it.
Btw, not true that Utah doesn't let 8th graders run. -

You obviously missed the huge thread about Nike not letting Ping run in the XC Nationals. The reason because Utah didn't allow her to run in her state, and individual state rules applied to Nationals. -
just an outside view...... wrote:

Not true.
See: Sydney Thowaldson from Wyoming.
13:14 for 4k, hilly and @ 6000 ft. (Moffat invitational, CO, 10/1/16)
Sydney broke 5:00 for 1600 last year (7th grade)
She also only runs during track and xc season and only with her school team. Normal kid, no training, and definitely no parental bs and she probably only knows tinman as that guy from Wizard of Oz.
....Grace Ping can't beat HS girls yet, but is going against collegiate and pro runners. !??
Somebody needs to reign dad in. -
Ping is going to get no competition in Utah and the UW meets are some of the best open meets of the year. Plus she seems to like to race, and is staying healthy. She raced four times in the Fall and a similar # in the Winter is not out of line.

Utah lets them run, just not with HS teams. Because they aren't in HS. -

EXACTLY!!!!!!! That is why she has to run against COLLEGE and PRO women. Utah is really backwards. -
little known fact... wrote:

Interesting? Maybe the race for second will be interesting, but it seems clear who is winning that one, unless she is way out of shape.
Will he interesting to see how conley adapts back to the track after marathon training. She hasn't had much rest in a few years, other than when she has had an injury. I'm not sure if that is a strategy to run fast or to keep money coming in. -

Ummm Utah has plenty of people who are faster than her, even if she's not allowed to race against the high school girl portion of those people. Utah has elite training groups and fast community races. No need to fly out to Washington.
