My guess is that it has more to do with the weather than the foot. I'm surprised he's not rerouting to AZ with his pacers.

Well if you can't run 59:43 you might as well say you have plantar fasciitis
Rupp's first injury?

wat.
Bummer. I was looking forward to his race.

Per implication of some posters above, I bet PF is a fake injury, some other reason he's not racing and PF is a convenient excuse.

Springs in the new Nike top secret shoes.
Galen already wore the 'spring' shoes in Rio.
I'm old. I never heard of PF injuries in the 1970s and 1980s. I totally blame the shoes.
If he really does have pf, could he still put in serious milage and train through it using the underwater treadmill?
Not a change, it hurts like hell to walk in the morning. Also a must to use shoes inside so you don't constantly tear up the injury. I had this injury for 6 months and tried basically every therapy in the book. I think I remember Ryan hall saying it was the worst injury he got over his career.
Now that Mo Farah looks beatable over 10K Rupp should change his focus back to the 10K in 2017.
The weather is going to be 65-70 degrees with high humidity Sunday morning in Houston. I think this is probably the biggest issue.
Remember his gesture at the end of the OT. He immediately put ice underneath one of his foot.
An injury caused by support shoes which do not alow the foot to move and flex as it was intended ,Galen says he always wears Nike Structure for safety when training ,"aye right" put them in the BIN !

Says the guy with zero serious info on these shoes.
Says the other guy with a sore butt.

Despite what Inter would have you believe, there is a wide spectrum of severity of PF, and that majority of that spectrum would be preferable to a stress fracture. I would think that regardless, he will back off briefly and be using the underwater treadmill.
People make so many mistakes in treating PF. It'll fascinating if we get details on he and AlSal's approach.

Alberto has done a better job with Galen than any runner in the world I can think of in staying healthy.
Definitely don't criticize Alberto for Galen being injured. He's the least injured pro I can think of. Another poster speculated is this Galen's first injury. I'm sure he's been injured before but no injuries immediately come to mind.

Like what kind of mistakes? Just curious because I'm currently fighting a recurring battle with PF. I have found that the night boot, better shoes, ankle and toe exercises, and golf ball massage have helped the most, but it keeps coming back.

I think I can cure yours in a week.
